Can't get excited for FSU

ProjectMKU, I've spent a lot of time in your area. A good friend of mine owns a theme park near there (Silverwood) and wife and I visit there from time to time.

Back in the day, I pitched on a fast-pitch softball team that traveled extensively and we went twice to Spokane to play in tournaments. Very nice area.

He essentially said..."we're not winning enough, so I don't want to go to a major rivalry game even if I get free tickets." Fair weather fan, period.

Well, from the looks of the stadium week in and week out, 90% of the fanbase are fair-weather fans. Congrats on you being one of the few real fans in South Florida.

Yes, most are. Miami is known nationwide for fair weather fans, be it the Dolphins, the Heat, the Marlins, or the 'Canes.

In my age group, most of the people down here are not from Miami. I believe that to be true of most other age groups also. Given that demographic is it really fair to call MIAMI fans fair-weather? Maybe it is all the Yankees and foreigners who find our fair weather so attractive are the "bad" fans. Plus, a lot of the so-called humans who live down here attended the two state supported felony trade schools up north. Maybe they are the bad fans. Guess saying. Either way, I hope we kick the feathers off of the criminoles but then win when they miss ANOTHER frigging filed goal--just to listen to them cry some more.

ehhh me too. Was just offered tickets to go and declined. No real faith that Golden has the balls to beat a decent team.

This **** ****es me off. I'm lucky enough to live where my favorite college basketball team (Gonzaga. Spokane, WA.) and I go to games whenever I can, including a exhibition game against Thompson Rivers a week ago. I'd do anything to see a miami game, let alone ****ing FSU.

boo hoo ... I went to Wide Right 1 & 2 ... When I attended the U we never lost a home game and I went to every single one. I've been to multiple away games and used to have season tickets. Gave them up last year. I've only watched one game this year live ... Louisville. Too many other positive things to do than watch crappy football. Basketball starts this week though. That I'm excited about. I still have my season tickets for basketball.

Yep I've been going to games since late 80s and away games...i went to grad school at miami....

Feel free to get back on the bandwagon whenever you'd like

Stop being a clown and pretending than any of those are the reasons he declined. He stated himself that he declined because "he has no real faith that Golden has the balls to beat a decent team." That's the very picture of a fair weather, fake fan. Again, the type a team doesn't need.

Apparently there are a lot of different definitions of fair-weather. I don't want to spend my money or time on a trip to a game (I live in Atlanta) b/c I think Golden is garbage but I still wear my colors and fly my flags on gameday and I watch the game. A fair-weather fan (to me) is someone who doesn't even bother to pay attention until they are good, but doesn't actively root for another team if they are good (a bandwagon fan). The fact we are all on this board talking about it, whether 'slurping' or 'moping' means none of us are fair-weather fans. Just those that are happy with the product, or not happy with the product.

A reason he doesn't want to go is a good reason to him. Many of us work 40+ hours a week, with only two days off. If someone doesn't want to invest nearly six hours of their time on one of the two days it doesn't mean they are fair-weather. Someone's team not being #1 priority in their lives doesn't make them a 'fake fan'.

He essentially said..."we're not winning enough, so I don't want to go to a major rivalry game even if I get free tickets." Fair weather fan, period.

Nah.

He's saying that over time, the product has been inferior, and he's not buying.

Gotta admit, we have sukked since Golden got here, and we've been most fortunate that the ACC Coastal is as weak as it's ever been THIS year.

Put a decent product on the field, and people will come.

See while I have often went on record as saying that I would like a new coaching staff, this is why the anti-Golden crowd looks so foolish. Golden has had enough issues that you just sound ridiculous when you make everything his fault. It's just like the people going crazy because one alum is making a big deal about not being on the field when that's an athletic department decision and has nothing to do with Golden. (Shapiro didn't help either) We haven't sucked since Golden arrived, we've sucked since 2004. We sucked while Coker was here. We sucked when Shannon was here. Now we suck while Golden is here.

I also disagree with the people will come when we win. Sucky teams all over the nation fill the stands in every sport. Our fans suck so maybe we get what we deserve.

Yours is the same milksop mindsets that I suppose now this country exhibits. More damned excuses for not performing than the Squibb Corporation has suppositories.

If you're the head coach, what happens is on you. Even if a subordinate makes a mistake - he's YOUR subordinate - and it's on you! You don't fire someone's ***, or you don't change up the program, it's on YOU.

If you have authority over who you select and who your coaches are - then you also have responsibility over them. You don't get to ride out sub-par performances for three years, and all the while, blame your lack of production on everything under the sun.

If you don't want the responsibility - don't take the job.

Golden isn't up to the job, and blaming the players week after week for the past three point five years, is really candyass.

So bottom line, yes, everything IS Golden's fault. And if he can't man up, he really needs to take it down the road.
