Caniacs, we will be fine.

I get it and I can see all of the substantial improvement from last year. The thing is that I don't think that we will ever win anything of significance under Mario for one fundamental reason. Mario will never reach out and take what it is he wants and by extension his team never will either. I'm referring to his coaching style in terms of game day decisions and strategy. Take this game for example. It's great to have your team fight scratch and claw and never give up but there comes a time in each game when you have to make the decision to take it. Mario will never do that. Sure we will fight back down 7-14 points and be physical and not give up but Mario will never do what it takes to put another team away or aggressively take victory by ripping it out of his opponents hands.

For example like I said before sure we will battle back to get back in a game but Mario will never be the aggressor in an attempt to take the lead. Let's say we play aggressively to come back and take the lead. Mario will shut everything down and play not to lose by being super conservative all the while hoping that we break a run or that we get a strip sack or whatever but he will never actively try to make it happen. Am I explaining that well? Do you understand what I'm getting at? It is because of this that he will underachieve no matter how much talent he stacks. He will never actively try to put distance between himself and an opponent that his team is superior to. Against Miami of Ohio he can get away with it. Against Temple he can get away with it. However in conference play his faults are greatly magnified. Consequently he will become locked into a death struggle 14-10 vs a team that he should blow out. That style allows the inferior team to hang around and stay in the game with a punchers chance to win at the end and it is this that leads to totally unnecessary and completely bewildering losses.

This is ultimately why Mario Cristobal will never win anything here until he has a genuine come to Jesus moment and changes his ways. Honestly it's a shame because I know the man cares. I know he loves Miami and that he wants to win. He also has some very good qualities and there are things he does very well. He has increased our talent level and also transformed our locker room from a country club full of entitled me me me half steppers to a room full of serious hard working talented kids who want to get better and want to win. Kids that actually feel it in the pit of their stomach when we lose. Kids that shed tears when we lose! He has transformed us into a tough physical team that tackles infinitely better than before he came in. So no I don't hate the man I just get so **** frustrated by his lack of imagination and his penchant for playing scared and not to lose.
Take at easy. Francis.

I hear what you are saying..

Seriously.

But I also played in very serious basketball as a youngster. We only lost 3x over 3 years.

Our Coach was from Compton. We were Sac/Davis kids. He in all respects would kick our face in after an L.

Mario, does not like losing. Like LaCose. You either up your game, or replaced.

Mario will up the game (talent) he already is.

Little known secret about organized real sports.

Talent begets talent. When you have a FULL room of athletes that spit, ish, fire, and want to express themselves AS A TEAM. Together hate losing

Wins happen, even past coaching.

Ooh, wait. 01 Miami..

I also know that personally.

I believe you and I know exactly what you mean. My concerns are that recruits will see this product on offense and think to themselves, "Do I want to take a chance coming here as a WR or a QB?" Are these recruits going to blindly trust Mario after watching 2 OCs come and go in 2 years? I don't know. I hope that they come here and give us a chance but I'm just not sure if Mario truly wants a functional passing offense. I'm not sure that his style will allow us to have a top 10 top 20 offense no matter who the OC is.

Also when it comes to 01 Miami you are talking about one of the greatest collections of elite talent ever. You just don't go and duplicate that just because you are an elite recruiter. Also that 2001 staff was excellent. We will never see another team like that one. Did you play on that 2001 team or did I misunderstand?

No, of course I did not.

Football coach wanted me to play. I was a forward in Bball. 6'2+ in 8th grade. White boy.

I played like Dennis Rodman. But could shoot and jump. Even entered a dunk contest my sr. Year. As a not starter/team.

I was an athlete.

I just know the mentality. I ended up being a Natural Bodybuilder. I still lift. Love that sport.

Point back to talk.

We need just some time. Up the talent.

Look at Oregon. Those are his kids. And if need be he will find the coordinators to get the job done at Miami.

I hope I'm wrong and the does succeed because first and foremost I'm a Miami Hurricane! It's in the blood. If Mario succeeds then the program succeeds and that's exactly what I want.

Cheers to that.

When we all break it down on this board ..

Love the actual Campus. Great School.

Football represent. Play tough. Win.

We played them how a sorry FSU team would play a Great Miami team.. we didn't lay down and die.. One thing I'll give him credit for is this team won't quit

I said this at the end of the game.

Don't over analyze it like this board. There is a reason why the national media says that Florida State survived Miami. Our backup QB put his *** out there and unfortunately broke his arm in doing it..

We fought hard. Guarantee you there is a lot of FSU players that are not feeling all that good after this game.

We just need to somehow end up the season with a winning record even after the bowl game.

Keep the momentum going and rehab Emory.

Our running backs did get a little bit tired in the second half and our front line didn't have as much push as that we needed. But... We did not self-implode in this game and we handled the pressure just fine and brought the fight to Florida State and they knew it.

Just give Miami another recruiting cycle..

FSU is peaking and will not get past Georgia or Alabama or Ohio state in the playoffs.

Miami is rising. Slow, but it's happening. Believe.
If only we had a young speeeedster RB on the sideline with fresh legs….. oh wait

Back in 1993, Dan Marino tore his Achilles’ tendon. Then Scott Mitchell took over until he too was hurt. That left Miami with Steve Deberg and Doug Peterson. With Mitchell and Flutie, the Dolphins offense under Gary Stevens did not change significantly. However there was one game that Pederson started. If I recall correctly, Miami’s win with Doug as the starter came with a much more stripped down version of the passing attack.

I’m citing this now because I think that is what the Hurricanes offense has become. Shula and Stevens either felt that Doug Pederson was too limited in experience or in arm strength to use their normal passing attack and went conservative. Mario likely feels the same about Emory and was trying to limit turnover opportunities. Tyler’s deteriorating performance (which I think started out as injury related similar to Joe Burrow) has compelled a similar shift in philosophy. Circumstances drove the conservatism, not necessarily the core philosophy.

At least that’s a possibility.

The Dolphins were 9-2 and lost 5 straight to miss the playoffs. Not sure there are any positives to reference from that nightmare.

Not that stretch, but prior to that. I think that it was win #8 where they started Pederson. He had been a practice squad player the previous two years and had become an unlikely starter in mid-November for what became Shula's 325th win. The reference is that Shula and Stevens had to go limited and conservative with him due to that inexperience, and its potentially quite analogous to what the current staff is doing with Emory Williams.

Ok, that's fair.

We **** the bed relying upon our OL to continue to make holes in the game. A quarter after a quarter. They get tired. And really our decent run plays were counters and slight misdirection on run playes. Teams figured this out weeks ago.

Our offense unfortunately is very predictable.

My suggestion is to start using the tight ends in the 15 to 20 yard Gap and then also going outstream with our wide receivers and have them out run the coverage.
Any passing game innovation would be welcome. Good luck convincing that to Mario though. . .

Mario will never change until someone higher up the ladder sits him down and tells him he needs to change .I thought Rad might be that guy but not now…will Zo take the lead and talk to him and if either of them do point out all the reasons he needs to change will he listen?Probably not cause he thinks his way is the only way and he’s to pig headed stubborn to notice CFB is passing him by.

I had hoped he had learned from Saban that to win at a high level nowadays you have to adapt as the offenses change as defenses adapt .
