Canes wins 10 games and Costal

Like your positive attitude OP. Why do you feel this way? It would appear that Golden has yet to prove that he can out coach his opponent in the 2nd half of games.

The talent level.... Kaaya and Yearby makes one of the better offenses in the ACC... The team didn't loose the last 4 game because of talent... The FSU game beat us all spiritually... and they couldn't recover... Defense of line is ready... I really think ACC Championship is a realistic in the next two season.

Then how do you explain the Nebraska and Ga Tech losses? (I'll give a pass on the Louisville game) How about the loss to a horrible South Carolina team with a month to prepare?
Can't explain...

I agree. With the talent on this rooster and the lack of competition in the league anything less than 10 wins is failure.

Good rooster reference

7 wins max. But Im guessing 5-7. Oline struggles. Injury bug exposes depth issues at multiple positions. Dumpster Fire.

I've being accused as being an Al Golden supporter... I'm guilty... I've been a suppoter of every coach at the helm of Hurricane football since the early 80s. I think George Bush was one of our country's worse Prez but he was my Commander In Chief i supported him as much as i could didn't vote for him but supported him.. even doing 13 months in the desert on his order...so consider me what ever you like ... i don't mind...Go Canes

Your the last person anyone should criticize about supporting whatever coach we have. You really don't have to explain.

You guys are in a win win situation. Al wins and your good. Change comes and hopefully everyone's happy. But that's not something id worry about bc I think every coach in the country would want your kid.

The problem is us winning 9 or 10 games doesnt really have meaning unless we win the ACC. Just making the championship game SHOULD NOT save Golden. keeping him without a championship is just unacceptable and keeps us stagnant.

I can see us winning 10 games because our talent dictates we should easily run through every game except for FSU, Clemson, and maybe Nebraska. So winning 10 games isnt much to be impressed with. However, if we couldnt do it last year, i just dont know how Golden can possibly win more than 8 games this year...and that is just plain sad.

Honestly the only thing that should possibly be able to save Golden is an Orange bowl win, winning ACC, etc...theres just way too many reasons hes not the right coach, and should have been fired already. just winning shouldnt be enough, he needs to win big, in order to stay.

First the obvious, the coastal blows and this is not an accomplishment. We've watched Duke and GT take the coastal and we have more talent than both combined.

Second, what does history tell us?

- Al Golden's BEST RECORD in the ACC is 5-3. Let me repeat, Al Golden's BEST RECORD in the ACC is 5-3.
- Al Golden REGRESSED with his most talented team.
- Al Golden has only won 9 games ONCE at Miami.
- Al Golden has NEVER won a bowl game.
- Al Golden has NEVER beaten FSU.
- Al Golden has lost his last 4 games and 11 of his last 19

In summation, we play in a terrible division and we have more talent than everyone we play (short FSU). Clearly the talent advantage isn't helping Al Golden. We know that Al tops out at about 5-3 in the ACC (he averages 4 wins per season in the ACC). There is no indication or evidence that Al could win 10 games. In fact, he will likely win closer to 7.

Here is the big thing that people keep forgetting. 10 wins on it's own doesn't mean ANYTHING. We could win 10 games and not win the coastal. Those 10 wins could be against chitty opponents (see the above list).

How about 1-3 to UVA? Al Golden is the best employer ever, he keeps his undeserving coaches employed and he keeps others employed (i.e. Mike London).

My prediction... it starts...

God, let's hope so. Our 2016 commitment list right now is phenomenal. A good season will keep it mostly in tact, while 10 win season with the coastal could send it to an even higher level.

Nebraska- I don't know what to expect. New coach, new system. They have some talent though, and we will be over confident after feasting on nobodies. The game is at home though. 60% chance we win ----due to overconfidence, and not having played anyone.

Cincinnati- Tough team, not a lot of talent, but they play with a chip on their shoulder and do not back down from anyone. We should win. Although a Nebraska loss could start things off bad. 80% chance we win.

Florida State at Doak. That will be another tough game, but we will lose it. Why? Well for one...Jimbo ***** on Golden, to the tune of 4-0. They are significantly more talented than we are. The have elite runningbacks and are returning most of their defense. Think Nebraska last year, that is how the game will play out this year at Doak. 10% chance we win

VT will want payback from last year and we will be down (spiritually as you say) from our FSU loss....JUST LIKE LAST YEAR. 50/50 chance we win

Clemson returns a veteran team this year with enough speed and talent to beat us. If we don't bring our A game to that one they win handidly. 35% chance we win (due to Dabo being something of a corch himself).

Duke- they want payback as well, the game is at Duke, and the walk will tire us out ala Shannon. Don't sleep on Duke. The game last year was a lot closer than the score suggests. 50/50 chance we win

Virginia knows how to beat us. They are 3-1 against Golden. London know how to expose the Al Groh 3-4 prevent defense we run. It is called TE's up the middle and setting the edge on the running game. 25% chance we win this one.

North Carolina at North Carolina. If they return their QB from a year ago they could be dangerous. He was good. And we make quarterbacks look like Heisman finalists. Not as worried about this one, although they play us tough at their house traditionally. 65% chance we win.

GT- they return most of their team. Their QB, if he remains healthy runs that offense like butter. 50/50 chance we lose that game.

Pitt at Pitt. It's November in Pittsburgh. We are terrible under Golden in November. We are terrible under Golden in the cold. Pitt's last game of the year in their house, they will be fired up. I'm chalking this up as a loss.

If we take care of the ones we are favored in, split the 50/50 games, and win one of the one we are not supposed to at best we end up 8-4. AT BEST. More reasonable prediction would be 7-5 or 6-6.

My prediction... it starts...

I use to believe this, too ...

But 6-7, with the 2014 roster, has me standing at the train station instead of jumping aboard this season.

I still love the program, still want the best for the kids, and won't be bothered in the least if your prediction is accurate.

But there is nothing in Golden's background as a DC or HC that tells me he can win the Coastal this season.

And while 10 wins would still be a shocking accomplishment for Golden ... That would, likely, say more about our schedule than his actual coaching ability.

... Now, I swallow big and type my least favorite fan comment: "I'd love to be proven wrong"

FSU is just a bit more talented...we will have better QB and RB and may even nudge them at the receiver corp..the lost alot of their O-line talent to the draft so we will be even there... Defense they may have the advantage...all other things ie momentum ..our number ..advantage FSU... not saying we can't win... Clemson will be our toughest opponent..and Yes Yearby is better than Cook...Cook had more time to develop Yearby had Duke in front of him

The talent is certainly in place but Golden's ***** philosophy (god what a *****) will continue to prevent us from winning 10 or more.
