Canes will play at fevered pace against the Paws

Their offense sure isn’t a basic.... They run a lot misdirections, boots, counters, and have a tendency to move the pocket(something Richt should do). They have the best DL in the country and our OL will need to be on top of their game. If Malik can make his throws and has time, I think he can pick on their secondary. If we don’t have Herndon, that’s a huge loss because I feel that him against their LBs is a huge mismatch. Honestly their D isn’t impressive outside of the front 4. Offensively, they have a finesse team. Their OL are not power run blockers. They move extremely well. They have some good weapons on offense like Cain, Renfrow, and McCloud. If our defense comes out fired up and doesn’t get killed by all the misdirection bs, I think they’ll be just fine. Pittsburgh made the defense looked lost of times with some of the misdirection plays. Gotta put some hits on Bryant and make him feel our presence. He’s an elusive guy so I’m hoping he doesn’t make us look sick like Pitts true freshman did.
Exactly....If a team like Pitt can move the ball with misdirection.... how much more should Miami be able to do it? Miami cannot afford to come out flat with a basic scheme...try to exploit weaknesses early on....throw in some wrinkles to keep them guessing...

Hey old porster. Go back to 3rd grade and learn how to spell before criticizing another citizen

They will do the same thing pitt did on defense. Rosier better be working on his deep ball because their going to leave their corners on islands all game. Richards will get his seperation, Berrios going to be open over the middle. I expect to see a lot more Cager and Langham on the outside with Thomas line up on the safeties in the slot. We get this match up with Thomas vs a safety expect Ricth to exploit this.

Malik being able to read and look off their safeties will be huge this game. Their going to disguise their coverage alot like VT did when Rosier threw 3 ints. Getting the running game going will set up the RPO which will add another element to the offense for Clenson to defend. If Rosier hits on a few of those deep balls those corners and safties back up and now we can run if the line can block half decently.

Tempo works only if we are hitting on all cylinders on offense. Any broken up pass, drop, run for a loss, false start, holding, will kill the momentum.

People act like Pitt did anything special on defence.

There's no blueprint to follow. They allowed Richards and Thomas to run free 30 yards downfield. That's not sustainable - your QB has to have a historically bad day not to take advantage of that.

If Rosier hits just one of those 4 walk in TD passes it's an entirely different ball game.

Their offence is basic. It's lots of window dressing to disguise the fact it's a very simple scheme.

Pitt’s gameplan was simple - load up to stop the run and dare rosier to beat you from the pocket. Clemson will do the same thing except I’m sure Venables will see if his front 4 can do that job alone.

My concern is Rosier as it always been. Remember in our 2 big wins we ran for 200+ yards as a team. We will NOT do that against Clemson. Like UVa and Pitt, they will force Malik to read the field and if that happens expect a 4-5 interception game.

People think Rosier is great because of the VT and ND win but look at the stats:

Malik Rosier in the ND/VT game - 26/52 on 50% 339 yards (169 yards per game) 3 TD 3 Int.

In other words, in terms of passing, thats not good enough to beat Clemson. Our success running the ball basically gave us no reason to throw the ball with Malik (and he still managed to throw 50% on 52 throws and 3 Ints)

Agree. Our only chance to win this game is on the ground w Homer, DeeJay, Rosier.

And we need our defense to play as fast as it did against ND and VT.
Unfortunately. Teams are on to that trick.

Miami was successful running when teams thought Rosier was dropping back to pass. As long as Rosier is inaccurate, Miami can’t run because a team as good as Clemson will be playing fish in a barrel; the OL hasn’t shown that they can move teams.

Unless the OL can play in a way that they haven’t played all season, the path to victory will have to be through the air - and I believe Clemson will be ready for bubble screens. Malik will have to throw the ball downfield, across the middle, and to the boundaries. Which brings up the next problem and that’s if Richt trusts him enough to do that.

Rosier has until Saturday to develop accuracy and touch.

Pitt runs a 9 man front as their base defense. Its what they do, its what Narduzzi did at MSU. If your QB cant complete passes, you cant move the ball, its a pure numbers game. Btw he stole the defense from 90s UM, and will tell u he did.

Clemson is not a press quarters team. They arent a 9 man front. You have to attempt to establish the run.

Totally agree. This game will fall on Rosier. If he can hit some downfield throws, it will open up the running game. If he throws like he did against Pitt, this will be ugly.

Not impressed by Clemsons O at all. They remind me of VT. Now their D is elite. I give them that. I think its gonna be a classic.

That has been the problem.... their D will tee off on Malik... shut the run down and keep Malik contained, we have a repeat of Pitt and UNC

Excellent point. But, for all the criticisms against Richt, the one thing he always tries to do is establish the run.

Clemson’s passing offense is very basic. They have maybe five passing plays.

They run an inordinate amount of curls. They just sit down and wait for someone to make a play. If our DBs come to play, Clemson is very vulnerable offensively. They will make some plays in the middle of the field, but if they start running curls all game like they tend to do, we will take one to the house. We’ve gotta tackle. A lot of their plays result from missed tackles.

They ran a ton of plays last night that just will not work against UM.

We’ve gotta come out aggressively against them and punch them in the mouth, and then let our DL take over the game from there.

Sum it up in two words. Pass protection. Clemson loves to blitz their corners. If Rozier gets time and is on his game our receivers can make plays on anybody. Not so worried about defense we will have a game plan to stop them before they get started. Need to spy the QB as well.Disrupt him and they have problems. And I wish some of you were not so negative we all know the obvious.

Not at all worried about clemson's offense..... Our defense is top notch.... Only way we get destroyed is if they mailed it in which I doubt... Defense will ball out.... Just hope the offense does too

Also CMR knows how to go uptempo He really has to thus the title of the thread. We have to roll out Rosier something we rarely do because CMR likes the option run up the middle but that is just not going to cut it. The way we win is through the air and that opens up run but that will be tough.

Just hopeful we win the field position Battle and capitalize on turnovers

No field goals instead of touchdowns

Richt vs Vernables matchup is going to be top notch. It's going to come down to who has a better scheme going into this game. There's a enough film on both teams to exploits some serious weaknesses, the question is who can mask it. If we can put up 28 points against this D, then we have a serious chance to win, but those 4 Tds will be tough, and it will come down to play calling and catching them with a hole in their D, and they don't have too many, if they do, it's real brief.

Yep. They’ve always recruited monsters on the DL.

It’s on our OL this week for sure. Pitt seemed to be throwing everything they could think of to try and confuse us on both sides of the ball. Clemson might be content just going straight up. I have to watched much Clemson this year though.

So if they blitz their corners a lot, that Rosier draw could become a huge factor again.
