A little lower scoring than people might originally think. Some first game jitters, I expect a mistake or two on offense with all the new faces, and both teams are going to be incredibly fired up.
But to me, most football games come down to line play and quarterback play. There are anomalies where there are weird turnovers or coverage busts, etc, but in most somewhat even games in terms of cleanliness and mistakes, the team with the better lines and quarterback usually win.
I will be very disappointed and surprised if Miami’s OL is not better than the gator DL. I don’t think it’ll be miles better, they have some players on that side, but IMO Miami handles that matchup well. Same as Miami’s DL vs the gator OL. Especially in the passing game. And if Mertz outplays Cam Ward, well, we’re in deep ****.
So if we win on both lines and our QB plays better, they simply have very few outs to beat us. I think 27-20 in a relatively close game throughout is about what I expect. One of those where we have a lead most of the game and we’re never chewing thru our fingernails, but it’s never fully put away either.
But I expect Miami to have a very good football team this year. As good as we’ve been in a long time. Just don’t beat ourselves, that’s all I ask. If we somehow finish the game with zero turnovers, I will be SHOCKED if we lose.
