Canes v Noles - Predict the Score

Misdirection scares me. Maybe it's the 25 years of watching Miami defenses be completely fooled by it, but the #1 thing people talk about with Heatherman is it looks like 15 white hats on defense are flying at full-speed to the ball. You know **** well Malzahn is going to try to use that to our detriment. End-arounds, throw-back screens, counter, overloading one side and running back the other way, weak-side runs, etc. I want us to be ultra-aggressive, but disciplined in pursuit.
I don’t think our ends fall for it. If you watch some of their film, the end arounds for Danzy are slow looping runs. Especially against the FCs and G5 games. He just outran everyone to the edge. Guy is fast but he isn’t that shifty. I could see one of our ends forcing him to bounce it back and give up 3-4 yards and lose any chance to turn the corner. I also expect Moten and Blay to wreck some plays from the inside out and get them behind on down and distance.

I think we’ll be able to line up, maintain gap integrity and leverage and just out athlete the guy across the line. While we might not be a Bama 2015 defense or Clemson in 2017 we have the personnel to dominate the game. Conversely I think FSU is closer to a Miami 2020 offense than a 2024 offense. One that if your on even footing talent wise they can hurt you but if your more talented they will struggle.

FSU only scores with FGs. They don’t get into the end zone. Bookmark this post.

Legit question. Everyone keeps saying "rivalry game, rivalry games are close, etc." But are rivalries still as strong amongst players as they used to be? Obviously for fans it's different, but when you think about the portal and having huge chunks of a new team each year and guys' paydays at the forefront, do you still get that hate/revenge factor? It used to be you had guys there 3-4 years and they HATED each other. You'll still have the chatter of rivalry, but most of these dudes aren't at a place long enough to develop that true hate.

I think it’s more about the atmosphere generated by the fans than the players internal motivations at this point. The fans have more of an impact on games than you would think. The environment matters so much more on the college level as crazy as it sounds. Players get drawn into the atmosphere. Think when ND came to Miami in 2017. None of those ND players knew about the hate and the rivalry from the 80s, but they def felt it when they got to Miami.

31-24. They can't stop our run game and our defense is good enough to at least slow them down. By the start of the 4th, Darryl Jackson admits he made a mistake and Castellanos removes 6' from his dating profile.
