Canes Ranking

This is the why the ranking system is dumb. How do you rank a team based off of nothing week 1. Then week 2 you adjust the rankings based off the results of week 1 but those initial rankings didn’t make any sense.

To make a ranked v ranked matchup cause UK HC is trying to beat Bear Bryant’s UK all time wins record, sec bias, ratings and revenue draw, should I continue?

Florida jumping to #12 is beyond ridiculous. They were ranked 38th in the AP preseason and jumped 26 spots.

For reference, when Texas A&M beat Alabama last year they went from #27 to #21.

Then they'll lose to Kentucky next week and only fall to #15. And that's how the SEC works

I’ve never seen such a monumental jump for such a lackluster win, unranked to 12? The coaches poll was much more reasonable

Just to give context to this SEC bias; allow me to take us into the hot tub time machine:

In 2021, the AP top 5 was as follows:

1. Bama
2. OU
3. Clemson
4. OSU
5. UGA

Week 1 matchups were:

Bama v. #14 us

OU v. Tulane

Clemson v. UGA

OSU v. Minnesota

Bama, OU, OSU, & UGA all won. We know Bama smoked us, OU struggled against Tulane, OSU won by 14 over Minnesota, & UGA beat Clemson 10-3.

By Week 2, UGA leap frogged OSU, & OU.

OK, I definitely get leapfrogging OU, but OSU? Ehhh.

Here’s the problem; let’s fast fwd to 2022.

AP Top 5

1. Bama
2. OSU
3. UGA
4. Clemson
5. ND

OK, Bama smokes Utah St, UGA beats #11 UO, Clemson pulls away late against GT, yet OSU beats #5 ND by 11. YET, UGA leapfrogs them!

So in 2021, UGA beats a top 5 opponent by 7 & leapfrogs the others. OK, cool. OSU beats a top 5 opponent this yr by 11, & gets dropped?

Make it, make sense. And mind u, I HATE OSU, but this SEC bias is becoming on a different level. Then UF jumping like a kangaroo from unranked, & we’re not talking 26th or 27th unranked, but **** near 40th unranked to 12th IN THE NATION AFTER ONE GAME AT HOME?? HOW??!

Excellent where one better throw would have been a touchdown and game over for UF but now they are top ten, we could beat a&m on the road and they still probably wouldn't put us top ten

It wasn't even a dominating win. They barely escaped.
Should have been a PI call. The reciever got **** hammered BEFORE the INT. But never gonna get that call in the Swamp in a close game on the line. Mfer’s

Where was all of the bad Utah talk before the Gates played them? It wasn't on this board unless you were LCE or Legendary. Neither said Utah was bad, but they did predict a Gator win.
Ah have you seen the talent gap in the two teams? Think they have 10 4 stars on the whole team. Outside of Oregon beating Ohio state last year when was the last time a pac 12 team had a big win? I havnt been posting on here much lately but you won’t find one thing where I said Utah was a quality team. About what I expected a battle of two mid teams.

Rankings particularly this early in season suck. Georgia was definitely ****ed at their #3 ranking and the ducks paid for it. The fact that the final rankings st the end of a season mean as little as the first ranking of the following season is good reason to start the rankings the way they finish the previous year. It will work itself out.

Sorry, just saw what you posted and that's the first I've seen Utah labeled as a bad team. Prior to the game, it was anything but considering how last year's team waxed our new guys old team.

If you just thought they were alright or mid level going into the game, good call. That's not at all what anyone here or national was labeling as though.
