Canes Overcome Hangover.. My thoughts on the UVA win...

I agree with everything except Rosier, I felt like he had a solid game today, made some big time throws and runs. A couple passes were inaccurate but most QBs throw a couple passes a game that aren't on point. I just feel like every one of Malik's is over magnified because the narrative coming into the season was that he isn't accurate. I'm very happy with where Malik is, how he's played and expect him to continue to develop and most importantly WIN.

And I know this is a message board but I don't think that every conversation about our running backs has to boil down to who's better at what, we have 2 (active) very talented RBs who are making plays each week and compliment each other very well. Enjoy the write ups. Good win for our Canes today.

Wasn’t Cager the one that missed that block on what should have been a pick six against us? Needs to be more consistent. That could have cost us the game.

McIntosh took the game over in the second half. His is special. Also Harris catching that TD was nice to see. How many recievers have stepped up and made plays for this team this year. Dugans is having a career year as a coach.

No special team recap? Abysmal. Special teams basically aided two of their TDs. I'm tired of coach Hartleys unit. 2 years straight and we look like **** week in and week out. 10th coach needs to be a dedicated STC

OH, trust me, it's bad, no sugar coating it. Every unit basically had some sort of breakdown today of some sort. And it's not an isolated incident. But again, its something that I hope will improve with more quality athletes being added to the roster. I still dont like having guys like Homer out there on the ST units based on the RB depth

As for the DB play, there was too much peeking in the backfield. All mental.
Felt like they were pressing for big plays, & without dline pressure we got burnt.

I'd give Jackson a pass on that - he gave everything he had to run him down and came in a little pit of control. I think Diaz leaving the base defense in with all those WR's was the biggest problem imo. We're resilient but not sure about elite yet. Definitely red to make some changes on ST. Overall it was another game where we won, but I wasn't happy with the way the team played. I guess after being down 14 in the 3rd and rolling 30-0 it was good. Need to play much better next Friday.

Oh, wanted to mention thanks to the senior class. They have done a great job in leading the way of rebuilding the U brand and having a great season...

Cater needs to step the **** up at blocking. Like dude your ******* 6'5" and block worse than Harley. And his **** effort almost caused a **** pick 6

Excellent summary. I would add our special teams are atrociously coached. We lucked out on the onside kick, had a punt blocked, ran into the kicker, missed an extra point, kicked a kickoff out of bounds, and fielded a punt inside the 5 in crunch time, then had too many 4's on the field. This has a been a consistent theme all year. Hartley is not cutting it with special teams.

I like Hartley. However special teams has been subpar both years, would love to see them hire thst extra coach and let Hartley focus on ST or TE as opposed to coaching both.

The blocked punt was pure laziness/apathy on herndon’s part. Easily the worst play of the year for him. Fortunately it didn’t cost us the game but it could have.

At the same time we didn’t use him enough in the passing game.

The silver lining is that we won and the coaches have several items to emphasize next week.

The special make up this team has to always buckle down and win is what makes them great and championship caliber. Our early 2000 teams had moments where they didn't play to their potential from start to finish. This team is ready to win it all this year.

This was exactly the game the Canes needed....a big scare but they pulled it together to win. Pitt won't sneak up on us now and we'll come out ready to play and finish perfect in Pittsburgh.

There is a reason there are only 3 undefeated team left...winning the game you are suppose to is harder than it sounds. This team has a lot of heart and mental toughness.

They are the facet of the game where the lack of depth hurts the most.

Dallas is playing really good.

Imagine if Walton were healthy. 3-headed monster like Portis, McGahee and Gore.

Came out asleep in the first half and their QB was money.

Malek Young was roasted on each of Virginia's first three TD's.

Rosier, terrible first half missing open guys all over the place. The second half INT, just a play before he gift wrapped a pick six.

Survive and advance, big second half.

Deejay Dallas is making a huge difference.

Hes been impossible to bring down at first contact.

I think he might be stronger at a standstill than Homer. Once Homer gets moving people just bounce off of him though. Deejay has a huge future in front of him.

Nice Whitaker-Chavez reference as well.

Knew this wasn't going to be easy, but this kind of win impresses me as much as last week's. To gut out a win like that while we were essentially playing a NFL QB who couldn't miss, I'll take it. I never gave up on the team today, but I'll admit it....I was sweating in the stands.
