“A couple of the first practices I got up to 20 miles per hour,” said UM running back Gus “The Bus” Edwards, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound rising junior.
The Catapult system is a tracking device, attached to a thin harness that fits snugly underneath the shoulder pads. It tracks a player’s heart rate and movements, producing daily data reports coaches can use to better structure practices.
“When you get your numbers in, it makes you want to go harder and have a better day,” Edwards said. “[Wide receiver] Rashawn Scott, the very next practice, he went higher than me. He got a 21 [mph]. That’s the highest I’ve heard.
According to sophomore quarterback Brad Kaaya, the system is already helping Edwards.
“Every day, Gus has the highest workload registered,” Kaaya said. “He’s working his tail off.”
