We needed this guy. He is hands down the best center in the portal. I question his 295 weight. He is not that heavy yet. He can move and he has leadership skills. He is our starting center as soon as he walks on campus. Nice get.

Miami picked up a huge addition to their 2024 roster on Monday night as Indiana center Zach Carpenter announced his intention to transfer to the Canes.

Carpenter is originally from Archbishop Moeller HS in Cincinnati and went to Michigan prior to Indiana. He started for the Hoosiers the last two seasons and was a priority target for Mario Cristobal and staff as it was a necessity to replace Matt Lee – who entered the NFL Draft.

Along with Carpenter’s commitment, veteran Canes lineman Jalen Rivers announced today that he is returning for his fifth season.

He held up ok against some of the big boys. A sack and two pressures against Michigan, a couple pressures against Ohio St, but overall that’s pretty good. He’s much better against the pass than in the run game, so he’ll have to improve there.

Let Mirabal refine some technique and he should be a-ok. Maybe not Matt Lee level, but more than good enough overall.

Welcome to the U.
Run blocking is 80% a mental statement of mind wanting to absolutely Whoop'on the man infront of you. Coach Mirabal can definitely address his run blocking technique, but the young man will have to have to Nutt Up, which playing with UM's oline unit will help because that nastiness can be infectious.

Go Canes
