Sources tell CanesInSight that the Hurricanes have reached out and made contact with former Temple DE Quincy Roche about playing his final season of eligibility in Coral Gables.

The 2019 American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year announced on Twitter earlier this week on New Year’s Eve that he had entered his name in the transfer portal. Roche had also been considered a prospect for the NFL Draft, and had requested feedback from the NFL Draft committee. He was considered a 3rd-4th round prospect by NFL Draft site WalterFootball.com.

According to sources, part of Miami’s pitch to Roche has included having DE Trevon Hill call Roche up to discuss what his experience was like in grad transferring to Miami for his final college season this past year in 2019.

Listed as 6-4, 235 pounds by Temple, Roche finished the 2019 season as the Owls’ leader in tackles for loss (19) and the single-season record holder for sacks (13). He owns the AAC record for career sacks with 26 and most tackles for loss in a single season. He finishes his career at Temple with 137 total tackles, 39.5 of which were for a loss. The 26 career sacks ties Dan Klecko for second most in school history. He also forced six fumbles and recovered five loose balls.

Roche will be a 5th year senior that will be immediately eligible in 2020.

Since we play Temple next year, he would be considered a traitor by Temple fans, but a plus for Miami as less player to worry about from Temple.

We have a ton of talented DEs. Why is the staff trying to bring in another one?

This same stupid logic tree gets trotted out every offseason.

Other than Rousseau, who has proven themself? If the young guys are so talented, they’ll force their way into the game. If not, we just added 40 career TFL to the line. Seems like a pretty ******* great scenario.

He's a physical, fast, strong & an experienced highly productive pass rusher, you absolutely bring him!

Load up on as much talent as you can, I don't wanna see Patchan take another snap in a meaningful game ever again, bring in as many DE's as you can find & let the talent do work on the field.

With how little depth we have at CB & the inexperience we're going to have at LB, we're going to need an otherworldly high caliber pass rush to hold down the fort for the Defense. Our Secondary will be exposed if we don't have an elite pass rush, not just good or pretty good, but elite. It's necessary.

We're losing Hill & Garvin, this kid is more productive than both of them with 39.5TFL's & 26 sacks for his career, including 13 sacks last season which was 5th in the nation 2.5 sacks behind Rousseau.

Rousseau & Roche on the ends is an ONSLAUGHT, with Jaelan Phillips in the cut & Jahfari Harvey still developing, plus Quentin Williams coming in... No fckin brainer, get this kid ASAP!

I hope comes in, but who’s to say Manny doesn’t play favoritism and play Patchan over this kid.

We have viable players at de... we don’t have that many viable players on the oline. How about we make that a priority. What is hill going to help tell them? How he had to play behind patchan and lazy garvin to start the year because of favoritism?
Well they wouldn't have put Hill in contact with him if they thought he would have negative things to say. You can also recruit more than one transfer option at a time. Pretty sure they were able to get Bolden and Phillips and the stress of recruiting one didn't keep them from getting the other.
