Canes go 8-4 and golden gets fired

Plain and simple. Every program is different. We do not/can not operate like a large state school. Though our past is much more glorious than most, our fan base is still small, we don't have the pockets the big state schools have. And every situation is different. Herbie said it best. Once the "sanctions" had been handed down it does not mean you just go right back to business as usual. We lost some good recruits to them not trusting our possible sanctions. We landed some good ones too, no doubt. But just look at the 2016 class, we're landing some studs. This next class is shaping up very well.

I still think this program needs continuity. However, I also think next year is the absolute put up or GTFO season. There has been some real improvement this season. There really has. But there is still the UL and GT games that were just an abomination of either offense or defense. Those performances need to go. Or the second halves of NEB (Def.) or FSU (Off.) where parts of the team just seem lost. However, we are seeing some sacks, ints, tfls. Those are positives. But it is true that at some point some big wins need to come along with the dominant performances of teams we should pound. Though, some of those losses were terrible, the UNC, Duke, VT wins were good solid *** whoopings that we have not been laying down on those teams in the past. So there is the start of the improvement we are looking for, we are smashing the teams we should.

Going forward it needs to look like this, win out this season bowl included. Continue to smash the teams you should and get a couple of big wins. We need to beat one of FSU and Neb. next season. I also think we need to go undefeated in the coastal division. Next season needs to be a 10 win season or he goes. I don't care who gets hurt. In the past I have given way to if "X" guy gets hurt all bets are off. Next yr we should have adequate depth on the whole roster to the point that even if Kaaya got hurt I would still expect ten wins. That is the program we should expect. Some of us expect those things a bit sooner than others. But we all believe we should be a contender every year.

Are they saying that stuff about UF? Because our slug has an almost identical 4 year record as theirs.

Florida had no probation, and last year went 4-8, losing to Georgia Southern at home!

They also went 11-2, were very much in the MNC conversation and went to the Sugar Bowl. A duck is a duck man.

Again - Florida had no probation, and last year went 4-8, losing to Georgia Southern at home! Stop ignoring how bad he was instead of how good he was, it is exactly the swings that got him fired. To the folks who can will not focus, I am not talking about Golden, or sharing an opinion on Golden, I am talking about Muschamp, ok?

Would you mind explaining what effect "probation" had on the program?

What recruits (plural) did we lose? I've only heard of one recruit that actually mentioned the NCAA mess as factoring in his decision.

And if the offense gets blame for the FSU second half, then so does the defense.

Who gives a **** what the media thinks? Winning cures all and the media will get over it. You can't be scared to act just because of public reaction. We will waste another year because of this state of mind. Welcome to another year of irrelevance.

The fact that our fans even care enough to entertain this tells you how far we've fallen and how pathetic the situation is.

Under any metric relative to this program and what this program has proven itself capable of under competent stewardship, Folden has been an abysmal failure exactly like Muscrap and Hoke. Problem is that our fans are such sissies that we've allowed the media to frame the story in a way that makes UM look like a schlep program that should be grateful for whatever Folden does while ufayg and Michigan should be allowed to expect more than what Muscrap and Hoke delivered.

Who gives a fck what the ****** reactive media thinks? It's broken. Fix it.

UM, if it's going to worry about public perception, should be very concerned of being publicly convicted of racism if it keeps Folden for doing the exact **** for which they fired Shannon.

Hahaha, wtf. That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

Right, so was I. Muschamp's Gators went 11-1 in 2012 regular season, finished ranked 3 in the BCS, and went to a sugar bowl. 22 months ago they finished the season ranked 9th.

OP asks would media perception be "Miami is unreasonable for firing Golden"? I point out that a guy who has higher accomplishments(BCS bowl game, MNC consideration, top 10 finish) at a parallel team with a similar overall record over the same amount of time was fired with little critical reception.

Your response was "Florida had no probation." Right.

Yes, I can read, and yes you sound like an idiot.

Orange tie, only thing I would say is and I'm not defending him but, golden hasn't fallen nearly as far as muschamp. Golden is just very average.

It is true.

The national media's take would be unreasonable because Al presents himself so well. I heard Cowherd say that he thinks Miami is going to compete for the MNC next year!

Obviously anyone who follows the program and knows what's going on would say it's reasonable and completely justified.

If Cowhard said it then it as good as gold. Let's hope that no one take Al off our hands.

Unless we just get embarrassed the next 3 games we play, Golden's not getting fired. There's a pocket of the general public who realize that there's no reason we should've lost four games but the rest think he's doing fine and overcoming the cloud. Mostly only hard asses or people who watch the games passionately right now are entertaining the thought that he should/would be fired, and that doesn't include UM's decision makers I'm guessing so it's pointless to entertain the discussion.

i want a change in our staff, but the only people that seem to think that a coaching change will make us better are us and (strangely enough) fsu fans. the national media is on golden's side.

Yes we won 5 of our last 6.

Combined record of those wins: 28-23 (16-15)

Duke 8-3 (4-3)
UNC 6-5 (4-3)
Cinn 6-3 (4-1)
UVA 4-6 (2-4)
Pitt 4-6 (2-4)

Sad part is we still could lose to these bums.

A lot of people shouldn't go by the record, there's no way these guys will improve the team next year if u look at all the classes since they got here. Too many misses on the trail in sfla will get these guys done for. When AG got the job he said we suppose to beat Bama and Fsu down here and u know what? He hasn't beat them down here.

I understand what you're saying, but Randy was also a significant part of the previous regime that got fired. He was also instrumental in clearing out folks under him on the defensive side of the ball after the LSU debacle. This wasn't a Tommy Bowden resigning mid-season and let's give Dabo Swinney a try. He was a successful DC. They gave him a shot, but his elevation was highly unusual. He was part of the mess he inherited as the incoming HC.

Randy got 4. Hoke looks like he'll get 4. Muschamp got 4. That's pretty typical. It looks like Al will get 5 (gets probation discount).

FSU always pulls several kids from South Florida. Many of them outstanding high school players and this is true when we were winning national titles. Alabama has signed 1 South Florida kid in the last two classes. Ridley is probably going to flip and we'll see if Burgess-Becker flips as well. He seems to be warming to the idea of playing with Kaaya.

I have no idea what your point is.

Shannon got 4 years, and Folden shouldn't get any longer for producing the same results. If you want to compete with the big boys you have to act like a big boy. If your HC proves to be a failure, then you fire him like ufayg did theirs.

If we had a real coach we would compete for a National championship next year. But we will hear excuses again I'm sure.

My point is they reluctantly pulled the trigger on Randy after the South Florida loss because we regressed year 4 and he was on part of the original staff that got canned. The norm is 4 years. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your perspective Golden gets an extra year because of probation.
