Sigh, Butch only had three big wins, UCLA FSU and UF. That isn’t the point though. The point is that Butch wasn’t ever a good gameday coach. He did however field what is probably the best roster ever seen in CFB which got him those wins. Now if you rather have Butch instead of Richt at Miami, that is an altogether different argument, and one that is more valid. This is about who is the better gameday coach and it’s easily Richt, who isn’t great in that department by any stretch either. But he is better than Butch.

You are downplaying Butch Davis.

Davis beat:

#3 UCLA
#1 Florida State
#2 Virginia Tech
#7 Florida...just to name a few.

Mark Richt has nothing that comes close to that. Yeah, go look.

The VT win was with an injured Vick but either way that neither here nor there. What about this proves he is a better gameday coach? He won those games because his eye for talent, recruiting and development skills were the best ever and way better than Richt. But that’s not what we are talking about. We are talking about gameday coaching he was inept there, always. At Miami, Cleveland, and then UNC.

That's BS. Butch is a much better game-day Coach than Mark richt. Butch built Miami up from probation. The loss of 33 scholarships. Sure it didn't work out in Cleveland. He built North Carolina up from being a doormat to throwing a ****load of first-round talent to the NFL. He's built up FIU in short order. Going from a doormat to a respectable program in less than a year.

Lucky for Mark richt, he has never had to build a program. Georgia was a solid program when he took over. Georgia was winning 8, 9 and 10 games before Richt was hired. Miami was winning 8, 9 games before Richt was hired. Can Richt take us to the next level? Absolutely not. Unless you call winning one extra game taking us to the next level.

Georgia averaged 7.6 wins per season for the decade preceding Richt's hiring. Richt averaged 9.7 wins and only had one season with less than 8 wins in 15 years coaching there.

Miami averaged 7.1 wins per season for the decade preceding Richt's hiring with one (1) nine win season. Currently, through two complete seasons at Miami, Richt has averaged 9.5 wins despite having to cancel a game against a cupcake last season.

You're allowed your own opinion, just don't use imaginary numbers to support it.

What's the best team that Mark richt beat at Georgia? Before you go look just know he never beat a #1 ranked team and he never beat a #2 ranked team.

appreciate all that butch did at DA U but I'm still mad that he lied & went to sorry a$$ Cleveland(could've won multiple rings here with the talent he brought in) so get ready for an old fashion beat down butch. then we can go back to liking butch and cheer on FIU. Its a CANE ova Here!!

You may be too young to remember but Butch Davis was not an "X's and O's" coach. He never outcoached anyone! What Coach Davis did was out-talent the other team - both the players and coordinators.

I have a ton of respect for butch davis and what he did for the Canes but seeing all those fans marking out for some nostalgia trip is hilarious. If you think FIU presents any legitimate threat to us you're delusional at best. They may be able to keep it close early but we'll take care of business.

No ****. Wonder if it has anything to do with competition?

FSU is trash as a team but we are going to get everything they have that day and they have talent to push us. Really curious how we come out against them.

We are just papering over the cracks right now.

All our weaknesses will rear their ugly heads as soon as we get back into conference play. It's slurper season.
