It’s going to be a different vibe in the locker for sure.

Last year Mario pieced a lot of the staff together with big names but no continuity. Lots of dudes looking to advance their careers after 1 year or retire.


This new staff is younger and hungrier to prove themselves in the big stage as most so far this is their biggest job yet in their career. I hope they don’t get overwhelmed and come to work everyday to show they are ready for the big stage!

The degrees of separation are not many...Nicholson worked with Satterfield...followed him to Cincy...I'm sure Satterfield's number is still in Mario's contacts.

Was just telling Cribby my thoughts on this yesterday and how he's young and energetic but more so how many times we'd be getting blown out and just destroyed on D and our sideline was silent. No coaches engaging with anyone and checked out. I will say I saw Steele trying to coach guys up a few times. Not so much Charlie Strong... will not happen under Nicholson. I saw him doing this live when we played a few years ago at UL.

Between him and Guidry there should definitely be more energy and engagement on the sidelines and pregame

It’s cringe to say but playing with passion will be a must with these guys in the room. Kids feed of this.

The infusion of energy and younger coaches will be evident.

With Guidry, I thought it was interesting in a good way, that he was named interim coach at two different G5 schools that have had success over the past 10 yrs

You can tell it's genuine in that video someone shared from twitter above . That's the key. In that video I see a coach who wishes he could suit up with his players and he'd break every bone in his body battling with them if so. That's going to resonate with most those players I think.

Coaches who do the rah rah stuff because they're trying to mimic what they think a good coach does are just performing and that doesn't work at allllll. Kids and people generally see right through that and it has the opposite effect. There's some of that going on with Billy and Norvell when it comes to recruiting. A lot of the stuff thats been out on social from OVs and what not has felt like they're performing what they think a slick elite recruiter does and says.
