Canes -8 Against MSU

The key to the game will be stopping their RB Kenneth Walker III, we stop him we win.

That means our Run Defense is going to have to play out of their minds, which means whoever the D.Cooridinator is will have to get the DL & the LB corps motivated & ready to play smart disciplined sound gap control & not falling for misdirection & cutbacks...

Or in other words, hope & pray Mich St doesn’t think we’re their Super Bowl & plays a bad game, because otherwise we’re gonna have a tough one trying to slow down their rushing attack. And I’m certain we’ll leave their TE’s uncovered even though they don’t really use them, they will vs us lol.

It’ll be another game where position for position we’re more talented than them with the exception of probably LB & DLine, but we’ll have more than enough to beat them, it will simply come down to how well prepared & coached we are.
This is the nicest way of saying we’re gonna lose by 30 ive ever seen

People on here are overrating Michigan St because they want us to lose so Manny is fired. They beat Northwestern and YSU. YSU is an FCS school and Northwestern isn’t good at all. Northwestern barely beat Indiana St (FCS school) 24-6 and is not the team they were last year. They return just 39% of their production and have a new DC for the first time in a million years. Hunter Johnson is their qb and it only took him three years to be the starter. They also lost one of their best players before the year.

So we should win by more than one score, correct?

I was raised in South Florida and now live in Tampa. The heat benefits the deepest teams. Our team hasn't had a heat advantage since the early 2000s when we were 3 deep at every position. I've seen plenty of lesser teams whip our *** in our house in the afternoon heat since about 2005.
You're right to an extent but sorry 12:00 games kill teams that come down here. It's going to hurt them I don't care how deep you think MSU is.

This may the most gentle way of saying I expect us to lose as possible. Well played.
No, if I expected us to lose, I would’ve said that.

I gave a brief synopsis of what the game will be, if we stop their rushing attack we win, if not it’ll be a tough game, it will come down to Coaching & preparedness.

Nowhere in there did I definitively say we lose...

247 had the Mich State reporter do a "guest" Q&A today. He hadn't seen the App state game but said that prior to the season, he had chalked this game up as a loss for Mich State.

- He said their OL play has been horrible for years but seems to be turning the corner. It's hard to really get a good read because they just played an FCS team.

- Says the team strengths are WR & RB. More than half the teams season to date stats are from their cupcake game with Youngstown state. They averaged more than 8ypc and 10 ypp. Lead RB is Kenneth Walker, Wake Forest transfer. Backup is Jorda Simmons (last year's leading rusher) and Eli Collins, 2019 leading rusher (988 yds)

-Best WR are Jayden Reed (#1) and Jalen Nailor (#8).

=Starting QB is Peyton Thorne, RS Soph. Miami game will be his 4th start. This reporter grades him as a "B" QB. He's a coach's kid who is a good decisionmaker and relatively mobile.

- He believes their OL is weak; 3 6th yr seniors, 1 RS SR, 1 transfer RS JR(LT) = says they have gotten "smoked' for the past two seasons. Yet to be seen how much, if any , improvement since they haven't played any real opponent

- Their starting TE is also their 3rd string punter.

He rates their DL as a B+ : particularly the interior. They rotate 5 DTs who all range from 290-320 lbs. Their MIKE lb is a sophomore and is the defensive team leader. He is very good at side to side coverage

These are his words:
"There is NO pass rush from the DEs. Zero. It's all from LB/S blitzes. They CANNOT get home with 4 to save their life and have given up like 50% of the 3rd and 4th down conversions against as a result. This is probably a great 2 down D and a crap 3rd/4th down (Money downs?) D. Terrible. They've faced like 160 plays through 2 games."

He goes on to say that Quavaris Crouch, the transfer lb from Tennessee, is a freak athlete but has absolutely no idea what he is doing on the field.

He says their secondary is a disaster: they got two transfers who are marginally better than one another. he said it's obvious why they never played at their respective schools: Ronald Williams( from Alabama ) and Chester Kimbrough (Florida transfer)

He also said that while their back 7 are generally out of position, they do rally to the ball and don't allow alot of YAC. He said he can see a noticeable difference in tackling already this season compared to last.

He pretty much said the path to winning is to get to Thorne the QB early. make sure all the skill guys - WR and RB are covered because they are all capable of breaking a big play. He said all the TE are awful and not worth worrying about. He also said their special teams is weak and the kickoffs are generally short.

Could be an interesting game if we don't keep a lid on the QB/WR/RB.

App state didn't get tired. The heat thing is over rated.
Well ill say this, I went to the Orange Blossom Classic on Sept 5th at Hard Rock (FAMU vs Jackson State) and decided to go out there at about 1pm to take in the sights and sounds of the event. Game started 3:30pm. and they had alot of stuff going on outside the stadium for people to partake in..Food trucks, free giveaways, DJ, etc..No problem right? By 1:45 I thought I was going to literally pass out. It was so hot and humid it was unbearable. No joking I had to sit down in the shade until 3pm or I wouldnt have made it.

I live down here and it was still brutal. You dont know how hot it can get until you actually experience it especially if you arent from here. So to say the heat factor is overrated is absolutely false. Those MSU players around 2pm will absolutely be feeling that heat and it will affect them in some way.

They just dont know or just forgot. 12pm games are BRUTAL especially for a team from the North??

Did people watch that OSU vs Oregon game last week? It was a 12pm kickoff. I didnt see anyone breaking a sweat AT ALL. Thats the type of 12pm weather those MSU players are use to.

For anyone to say the heat and humidity wont give us some advantage come the 3rd quarter is crazy.

Not at all...

I didn’t say we’re going to lose, I didn’t say we’re going to win, I didn’t even give a prediction.
I guess I've been under a rock or something because I didn't know you we're back. Welcome back your insight is crucial to keep the CIS galaxy stable wise one. :)

Also remember it's hotter on the field then anywhere else. These kids are going to wilt by the second half.

I am from there. I know it's hot. I'm just saying it doesn't give us an advantage anymore, unfortunately. Name the last game we won because the heat got to our opponent. That's all I'm saying.

I've been doing 12:00 UM & 1:00pm Dolphins for 43 years. It's brutal especially in September. I actually stopped tailgating in September because I was miserable and cranky by the time I got to the seats and back then we had no roof.

I'm curious but who is the last Midwest team that came to Hard Rock for a 12pm game.
