can we afford to keep Golden?

only 2 College jobs I worry about loosing Golden to. Texas and Penn State. He already has his USC job at UM.

Can we afford NOT to keep him? Winning at Miami is not as easy as some think. Golden, clearly has this program moving quickly in the right direction. Right at this moment, I wouldn't trade him for anyone. We got a diamond in the rough, who's starting to glitter a little.

I'm driving the bandwagon.

A diamond in the rough? GTFOOH! Golden was a hot commodity. The majority of our fans are just stupid. There were plenty of big programs after Golden but Gruden was coming. LOL! And as for a source or link to Coker being one of the highest paid HC's in America with his new extension, you're kidding right? Are you sure you're a Cane fan? That's common knowledge.

If you didn't know Golden was a good one the day he was hired then you sure as **** aren't driving the bandwagon.

When's the last time UM lost a HC to another college? Contrary to popular belief, UM pays HCs very competitive salaries, and UM is not poor. The Don won't leave here because of money just like no one else has.

I have been beating my head over this point for years but porsters only think we're mom and pop.

Golden gets paid the same as Kiffin. Only two things will take the Don out of Coral Gables. 30+ scholarship sanction or the pros.

I am rolling with Saul. I don't even know if Golden has interest in the pros either, people need to calm down and enjoy the season.

After the job he's done and the Shapiro mess, Shalala owes Golden and his staff raises and contract extensions.

It is funny that they did just that and backed him 100 percent already. Our fans said it was dumb to extend him through 2020 (without knowing any terms) but the school knew more and took care of that.

All he has to do is win and the paper will be there. Relax everyone.

He isn't going anywhere he seems to really love UM. I know its kind of unheard of in this day and age but he might really be a lifer here. He'll never leave us for another college job and there is a very very good chance he'd never leave for the NFL either.

i agree, however....IF someone comes knocking with big loot, are we financially capable of stepping up? and if so, up to how much?

So, what you're saying is you don't have a source or a link, right? If it was "common knowledge", you would think this was documented somewhere. If it was common knowledge, why not just post the link? [sarcasm]And, yeah, Golden was a really hot property [/sarcasm] Most Cane fans hardly knew who he was.

I don't know what your problem is that makes you constantly attack other posters. But, I think it's a mental health issue.

I do not think we have anything to worry about. The pros may be tempting for him, but I think that would be further down the road for him if he so chose to pursue that. I think for the next few years we are fine. We will find out if we can pay in due time because he IS going to have money thrown at him if we win an ACC championship this season. The Texas's and USC's of the world will come for him. He is getting a LOT of positive pub these days and he is obviously a better coach than anyone wants to publicly give him credit for. The people in the business of hiring coaches LOVE this guy. I Love this guy! lol

I have faith in him to take him for his word. He said he wants to be here and he has proven it by staying up to this point. He comes from the JoePa coaching tree and JoePa could have left for more money plenty of times of the course of his career. I am sure AG has seen enough of his colleagues go for the money too quick and it derail their careers so I am sure if he decides to go to the pros it would take a lot of money and a good situation. Not like Fisch who went just to be back but obviously ran right into a baaaddd situation... Al Groh, Coach saw him get the boot a couple of times.... Golden is probably the smartest fuggin coach we have ever had here.

Like I said, most Canes fans are stupid and you seem to fit right in to that category. UCLA wanted Golden the year before he was hired to Miami and Golden turned them down. But hey, you don't even know that Coker was one of the highest paid HC's in the nation when he signed his contract extension so why would I expect you to know anything about Golden?

I didn't post a link because it's common knowledge. Don't get mad at me because you don't know much about the program you're supposedly such a big fan of. Or maybe you were 7 when it went down so you're new to this? Here's a tidbit I found on my first search. Would you like me to dig deeper? Stupid and lazy isn't good traits to have.

"In late September 2005, Coker agreed to a five-year contract extension with the university. The new contract would have paid Coker in the neighborhood of $2 million per season, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football."

After the abuse he has taken the last three years from competitor coaches on the recruiting trail and some local idiots, Golden has been made into a Cane by "us against the world". If this was just a job when he took it, it isn't anymore. Man is on a mission, a mission to kick rear and not even bother to take names. JJ came here full of hate for OU, and we saw what he did to them. Golden didn't show up with hate, but boy the man has it for some people now. He clearly loved beating Muschump and the reptiles. He is not a Lion nay more, he is a force five Hurricane forged in the fire of hated against us. He is not leaving without the Ring. Then, maybe to NFL, but not another college. The Miami HC job was and is middle earth between college and NFL, not a stepping stone to another college HC job.

Yes we can. If golden leaves, it's for a job like the steelers, eagles, or cowboys IMO.

Wow...

You think the Steelers would get rid of Tomlin. The Eagles just hired Kelly too, he is safe for another season or two. Also, Dallas is going to give the guy till the end of the year. He probably will make the playoffs too because the leader of that division may be 8-8.

Those 3 teams will not go after Golden.

Dallas is interesting. Golden is exactly the type of guy Jerry would consider. As we know, there's precedent. I actually don't think that's unreasonable speculation, especially if Dallas underperforms again this year.
