Camp Q&A

Best guess what SJ’s height & weight is? I don’t believe the 6’2 300 listing.

I hear you. And I'm sure they are going after each other on the outside, no doubt in my mind. But there is definitely a difference when you're running a dig in full pads and having to focus on the ball coming over the top of the backers while knowing a safety is coming to earhole you.
I agree. Yet we can also take away a lot from these practice and have questions.

For instance, Josh Moore , as much of a physical freak as he is, he had trouble making any contested catches. And that can be a concern

1. Will Ryan be good enough for us to win the natty?
2. JJ
3. Scroggins is out for a while so Blount will need to pull off some high snap counts. Wilson can rotate to ssde. Charles, Lightfoot, Pickett will have to all step up.

My 4. Is TE going to be a weakness that keeps us from the natty or are you expecting more 4 wides with RB helping the OTs.

Scroggins is out a while? Sheesh 🙄 thats a bad hit along with Lowe at DE. Depth took a big hit…how long is a while?

Hippa says we won’t know until he is practicing again. Off season injury. Is working his way back.

For the record, I’m not as high on Moore as others. Hope he makes me eat those words, obviously. But I think at the end of the year we’ll be saying our best 3 receivers are Mali, Barkate, and Upshaw.

And yes I agree, of everyone on the field, the only players I really take anything away from via the workouts in shells are the receivers/DBs and a little from the QBs. You can see process time and the arm, obviously. But really QBs aren’t judged until the lights come on.

Luke Nickel
Mykah Newton
Ryan Mack
Dylan Day
Booker Pickett
Cam Pruitt
EJ Marcelin
Jackson Carver
FR WR Evans
Cole McConathy
Juan Minaya
JJ Sparks

How are they looking

Are Justin Scott and marquise lightfoot opposed to be referred to as Deep Dish and Tavern Style?

It’s been interesting seeing pencil in moore as a starter, been trying to figure out where that has came from

Who’s batting for 3rd string QB? Who do you see being on the outside to play QB at UM.

You mentioned earlier this year that while we had a lot of talent coming back on defense, you weren’t sure if we’d be able to replicate the physicality and “violence” we had last year with guys like Jakobe Thomas setting the tone. From what you’ve seen in camp so far, does it feel like this defense is starting to bring that same mentality, or do you think there’s still some work to do before we get back to that level?

After Davis and Carter, what reserve DT is standing out?

Also, how do Minaya, Wilkerson and Campbell fit into the OL rotation?
Besides carter and davis, Blount will also play some DT out there. Blount is going to be a stud this year I think.
