Owners are quick to fire coaches, never quick to fire their dumbass of a GM...
I’ve always thought it was crazy that any team picking number 1 draft a qb knowing it has so many holes everywhere in the first place is what likely led to them drafting number 1.

Build the trenches up front on both sides of the ball, then get your QB/WR combos and then get your RB.

I disagree. QB goes first. If you try to build the team before the QB, chances are, the elite one in the draft won't be there by the time the spot is available.

Agreed. Franchise QB's do not grow on trees. You get them when you can, keep them healthy and build around them. To early to tell, but you are starting to see this work with Young at Carolina.

Maye. Daniels had no O-Line. Dart looks decent. Ultimately, the elite QB will shine through regardless of the circumstances.

How about if you are investing top 5 pick money on a QB you also spend the money to get him an OL, otherwise by the time the team has tried to build an OL through the draft , the QB is going to be seeing ghosts and his career is over before it even started. Draft the QB and then sit him for a couple years if you can’t get him an OL. Hes a long term investment, give him a realistic chance of success.

They spent 50 million guaranteed on a left tackle and the 7th overall pick a year ago on a right tackle and neither can block. They just whiffed. (Not sure who could’ve seen the Dan Moore signing not being great, seeing as he allowed the most sacks in the league last season)

Well I guess that's eliminated my reply.

Tbh, it's a crapshoot. New England went with two rookies on the left side and a C that was cut by Minnesota because his pass protection was **** poor. He's been really good here and the left side has held up well in pass protection.

But I am in favor of sitting your rookie QB unless he has such high starting upside that you can't bench him.

It’s why I can’t figure out how they haven’t found any spark in the quick passing game that works.
It wasn't Cams game to begin with and it's just something that he'll have to get used. Nothing in college prepares you for what the NFL currently does on defense. It's a different game.

I do think the best scenario for a young qb is to be able to sit, at least for a few weeks if not a season or two, behind a veteran, so I don’t disagree with that at all. Just providing some context, as this Tennessee roster is truly a trainwreck, and the coaching didn’t help.

I always say go get the qb, you can build the trenches all you want but if you don’t have the guy back there your best case scenario is probably what happened with Dallas after they spent all that draft capital and money on an oline but had Dak back there not able to win games when it matters.

But like you said, it’s all a crapshoot.

Probably should let a veteran QB figure out the OL can’t block instead of your rookie QB. Wait a year. You aren’t winning the superbowl in the QBs rookie season anyways and the owner buys some time since fans have hope that the answer to all their problems is sitting on the bench.

I mean, Mac Jones started out insane as a rookie. Andrew Luck did too. And then there's Peyton Manning, who's got a record for eternity with his INTs as a rookie. All of them started Week 1. There's examples for both sides.

Cam blew this play w the fumble but this is the end of his drop, no one looking for the ball yet

His first hitch (2nd read), still even for the shortest route

His 2nd hitch (3rd read) when he goes full Cam and won't check down or run.

The OL held up even in an obvious passing situation.
