Cam Ward CFB's Best Kept Secret (SIAP)

Money we are normally in sink with each other, but...We have had a couple Heisman winners/National Champs here. They had a different skill set, but Ward has some things to accomplish before he reaches that level.
I would love nothing more than Cam to lift both trophies!!!
He said skill set not accomplishments

This ain't the NFL....we talking bout CF and what he does on the field this season.
Time to, players improve

All sports now have better players than back then. Training and all types of things have made all sports talents better now. It always gets better individually at least

I posted this in another Ward thread, but it bears repeating.

Take 17 minutes out of your day and watch this. To me, this is the FULL Cam Ward experience, wrapped up into one game/a 17 minute highlight of every throw and run he had.

His numbers for this game were 28/34 for 404 passing yards, 4 TDs with 0 INTs, and he also ran for 14 yards and a touchdown.

As you watch this, you're going to say who TF is Josh Kelly, because he was sensational in this game as well (he transferred to Texas Tech, by the way), but just look at the command of Ward. Nothing is hurried, nothing is stressed, and to me, it's the ball placement.

People will point to his low YPA as a ding on him, but look at the offense Arbuckle runs. It's a ton of short passes. But on those, **** near every single ball is PERFECTLY in stride to allow kids to RAC. And on the balls he does throw downfield, they are pinpoint accurate. It's an absolte clinic on how to throw the football.

Additionally, the way he navigates the pocket is brilliant. He changes speeds, he eludes both directions, he doesn't run to run, he runs to throw, his eyes are always downfield. He just looks so comfortable on every snap.

Now, for some of the negatives that make up what I feel is the full experience. One play, he tries to step through pressure, doesn't secure the ball, and fumbles. Another play, he runs to the sideline, tries way too hard to make a play, puts the ball in harms way across the middle and gets absolutely lit up in the process. Just a couple plays here and there where he can be a little more caerful with the ball and with his body. But this, IMO, is a perfect glimpse of what we're getting. A supremely talented player with a ton of poise, accuracy, patience, and understanding of the game. With the occasional side of WTF are we doing here, son? If he can limit those, good god is this going to be fun to watch.

BTW, this game he put up a 221.0 QB rating, and a QBR of 93.2

The best game by a QB I can remember in a LONG time here was by D'Eriq King in 2020 against NC State, where he threw for 430 yards with 5 TDs and ran for another 105.

His QB rating in that game was 204.0 and he had a QBR of 93.0.

So yeah, Cam had a pretty good day against Oregon State. Anybody know who the opposing QB was that day? Buddy had a front row seat.

Thanks for sharing the video. One thing I always look for in college QB prospects is ball placement on deep throws. It’s what separates the stat compilers from the real deal. Cam = real deal.

I remember back when someone first posted on Cam Ward on this board back in 2021.

Crazy that we would end up with this kid.

Thank God for the Portal & NIL.
How confident are you in Ward to significantly reduce his turnover worthy play rate this year? Think he is like top 5 or something in turnover worthy plays in the country the past 2 seasons. Pretty sure the majority are actually fumbles - which I'd rather have to correct a QB who fumbles too much (even if it's like just a hand strength thing) than a QB who throws too many picks.

To me that is literally the only 'concern' I have with this offense at all. If Ward significantly improves in that area, this is 100% a playoff offense. Like sure you can say some other minor critiques, but Imo nothing even close to as impactful as Wards Big Play : Turnover play rate.

I'm very confident he will due to our OLine being far better than anything he's played with, combined with at least a top 15 RB in Martinez. I'd bet just his confidence in our OLine and the fact he wont NEED to be a superstar every play and can just take check downs to Restrepo/Arroyo when neccessary is going to significantly reduce his turnover plays... At the end of the day, I think it's honestly really simple, if Ward plays up to his potential, we are making the playoff.

So all athletes are better today then in the past.... which mean their opponents are better which mean it all equals out!!

Extremely.

The large part that people have missed about Cam's fumbles is that the majority of them were sack fumbles, not just him dropping the ball by being careless.

Cam has been sacked 84 times in the last 2 seasons. TVD has only been sacked 23 times during that same time span. So what does that indicate? 1 QB played behind a top 15 OL & the other played behind one of the worst in the country.

Even so still, Cam managed to put up 6,966yds 48TD's & 16INT's completing 65% of his passes during his 2 year stint as Wash ST, while playing behind a horrendous OL with very minimal help in terms of weaponry. Cam never had a single teammate of his make a Pac-12 All-conference on Offense.

So it's pretty clear to me, you put a gifted passer of his caliber on a team stacked with talent on the perimeter & give him the best protection he'll ever see in his career before he hits the NFL & there's only one outcome that can come from that...

I’m drinking the kool-aid too. It’s also nice to see LCE finally get excited about the team again.

I just don’t like statements suggesting anyone is the greatest to ever play here when they haven’t faced a single defender in a Miami uniform yet. I especially don’t like it when we have had some amazing players come through the program.

I’m very excited to see what Cam can do here. I think his ceiling is Deshaun Watson, but he also hasn’t done it yet on this stage. Let’s not crown him just yet. Your “take” reminds me of the hot takes rokulika would post to stir up the hornets nest. It’s good for engagement, but that’s about it.

Jj mccarthy Bo nix Penix went top 12 and scouts gave cam a what late day 2/day 3 grade? Ha thank you

Semantics MJ is the GOAT because he's not only the best bb player ever he also change the game and made it global.... and the game today may have more skill players, could it be because the game has become soft compared to when MJ played the game?

If its the latter then is that why there is more players that are able to show more of a skill set which make it look different than in the past?

Who’s to say a guy like Jim Kelly wouldn’t absolutely dominate the NFL today when you can’t hit the quarterback or touch a receiver? Or a guy like Jordan wouldn’t average 40 a game when the defensive rules are far more tightly enforced?
