Cam Harris Dynamic but Unrefined

Ya.. Knighton proved otherwise on Saturday against better competition than Harris did anything against all year.

It was a totally different dynamic on offense with Chaney in the game and then he got hurt. It's been totally different with Knighton in the game. Only constant was our offense sucked with Harris in the back field.
They should have let him and his temper tantrums leave

Cam should have been used at end of games when teams are tired and he could just run straight
Or he should be the change of pace back and given the ball in space
The guy has no wiggle to make people miss
He’s basically Walton with no wiggle
He’s not a good back in the sense that he doesn’t consistently move the chains

Define "best". Chaney is the overall "best", but he also seems to be injury prone so maybe that removes his title as best?
Rooster is the "best" in space and the "best" at receiving. Cam is probably the "best" at pass blocking and explosive runs. Doesn't do us that much good really. I'd rather have 5 yards a carry instead of 1 yard per carry 50x then one explosive play for 40 yards.

Best overall

Cam has a career average of 5.3 ypc. Not too bad behind our offensive line. 19 rushing TDs on just 293 carries. The hate this board has for just about every player amazes me.
It’s not hate. He’s just not as good as rooster. Maybe behind a good ol cam would be better but that’s not the case here

Cam is just an average back. Doesn’t have good enough vision or wiggle to really be counted on. He will test off the charts though and he’s built like an ox. Would probably be best if he moved on but you can never have enough backs.

Matt Waldman is the man. His analysis to me is Cam could be dynamic "if":

He didn't struggle to change to directions
Made better reads in the hole/read his blocks better

This is a fair assessment. Maybe something clicks at the next level, but these were things he struggled with all 4 years here. I don't know if they're fixable

cherrypicking one stat doesn't tell the tale. I don't think anybody dislikes Cam. But to say he's the best RB on the roster is a stretch.

I'd say as of today - Cam is our best/most complete RB. But by a slim margin.

Chaney/Rooster both have the "potential" to be be better than Cam, but aren't right now. Will they get there? We'll see

For all the Harris haters? I took the article as basically say, "Harris is more an athlete than a RB, and he really needs to work on his footwork is he wants a future in the NFL."

Some notes include:

"Although he has improved his all-around game, he is still not a high-level NFL starter with refined skills between the tackles."

And the writer ultimately concludes:

"Right now? He’s potentially an NFL athlete who will excite evaluators who don’t understand nuances the position and hope Harris will magically figure it."

That's not exactly an endorsement.
Fair enough, I read it as Cam has elite traits and abilities that identify him a potential NFL starter which if honed would make him a starter/millionaire - potential star.

My point is a) he had been under-appreciated here and more importantly, b) the staff at Miami has failed to cultivate and sharpen these characteristics.
