Calling For Coach Richt To Be Fired

I agree with everything but Richt is not a good OC (In addition, very few good coaches at this level can do both at a high level).

We’ve known this for awhile and there is a tremendous amount of data at UGA that proves this. They averaged more points per game and gained more yards after Richt stepped down from OC.

Then in two seasons at UM, the offense regressed and still looks bad. In addition in year 3, knowing your QB has an “accuracy problem”, continuing to go with him and throw the ball so many times is on the OC/HC.

The time to make changes, at both OC and QB coach should have happened after last season, if not sooner, but the combination of a tremendous ego and/or apathy from our tranny ***ing short bus riding AD leaves us where we are today. The sad part is when given the opportunity to get help this off-season, he didn’t even need to fire his son, he choose to add an unqualified defensive coach at LB.

So in total you have:

1. Two DB coaches
2. Two LB coaches (Patke and Diaz)
3. Jon Richt (who wouldn’t have a job at this level). So combined Patke and Richt, you have at least two coaches who aren’t qualified at this level, and
4. No offensive coaches who know how to diagnose an offense and call plays.

And yes, a better OC would get more out of this offense. Especially if given 3 years to coach it up. This doesn’t mean that said OC has to go with Rosier either.

Please note Jon Richt should have never been a coach to begin with. In addition, who adds a defensive coach over offense or STs where there are more serious and obvious issues?
I agree and if I had a choice I would def hire a new oc, I was just saying that Richt probably isn’t as bad as he seems as an oc but he’s also not as good as he thinks as an oc. IMO he isn’t a bad oc but he also isn’t a good oc, he’s average calling plays. There’s only one of the issues that he can fix before the end of the season as far as coaching additions/changes and our qb situation and that’s benching Malik. Hopefully he has the balls to do it.

I don't disagree with you but the problem becomes when the head coach can't fire his staff because of personal feelings or reasons. The great coaches always wanna get better even if it's firing someone because they see someone else that can help them get better. You cannot say you don't agree with this because you know it's true. We need a better DC and we need an actual OC. If we did both we would be so much better.

Not trying to be argumentative, but yeah, I do in fact strongly disagree with you.

When you are building a business or football team continuity is a key factor for success. You are headed for failure if you are a musical chairs manager firing and hiring people on a whim or thinking that so and so might be better. Once you start this act your reputation spreads like wildfire and hiring truly 5-star coaches becomes almost an impossibility as they know they have zero security.

For every hour we or most all others on this site have invested in the study of college football Mark Richt has a thousand hours or more. As fans, we probably know 20% of what's really going on and the reasons behind various decisions. Yet, many CIS'ers believe that watching the games, learning various football jargon and reading various blogs make them experts and know significantly more than Mark Richt and the other UM coaches.

If these same people had an interest in space flight they would be lecturing the NASA brass as to how they've got it all wrong after watching a few launches and reading the book... Space Flight For Dummies.

I disagree with CMR on things but no way would I call for his head already. He’s a vet who has had success. He gets leeway

The man took a Miami program that was swirling around the toilet drain about to be flushed into oblivion and somehow, someway he led the Canes to their first ACC Coastal Division title EVER, notched a 10 win season despite major injuries to many of his top performers, and took the Canes to the Orange Bowl, the first Major Bowl appearance since January 1, 2004.

Then, belittling his resume is patently absurd. And all that other gobblygook you are blathering on about is as worthless as teats on a boar hog.

Look I get it...it makes you feel good to be *****ing about something, if not anything about Miami's football program. In recent days Mark Richt has been the target you cats have been unloading your hate on, but you will soon move on to your next innocent victim. You and your gang are the ones who pass around attaboys to one another for slamming the coaches, kids, administrators, etc. and then you are rewarded with praise. Yet, if anyone DARES to have something positive to say about the program this site goes into a meltdown.

You simply don't know what you don't know.

PS: He also donated ONE MILLION DOLLARS to the football program, but of course that doesn't mean anything to you and the other CIS tricycle riding ***** Angels...Vroom! Vroom!

I am not calling for Richt's firing. .... but call it what it is ...

.... His one-time 1 million dollar gift is being recycled to the QB coach (as salary and opportunity to pad his son's resume) and the hydration specialist .... go figure ....

The CIS site is mostly (not all) a home for those who do nothing but complain and belittle. Reading many of the posts after the LSU game drove home the point that the haters, who claim to be UM fans, were giddy as they ravaged the football program from stem to stern.

After a UM loss, the number of posts appears to outnumber, by a wide margin, the posts after a UM win. That alone should tell you all you need to know.

It is clear that some are not in an earthly orbit when calling for the firings of Coach Richt and Coach Diaz. Our competitors have to be thrilled by our 'useful idiots' who are working overtime to destroy the program.

Employ your wildest imagination and try to visualize the catastrophic damage to the program if Coach Richt were fired. Recruits and their families would be afraid to sign on with the Canes knowing full and well the program has zero stability...and sanity! The media would have a field day shredding the program and knee-slapping laughing at us. Any coach of substance being offered the UM head coaching job after the firing of Coach Richt would think...these clowns need a net thrown over them and should be lobotomized?...the answer is not no. But, **** NO!!!

And those calling for the hiring of Butch Davis, why not Jimmie Johnson or Howard Schnellenberger? At least they won National Championships. The rich irony is, the mob (whose collective knowledge of the program could be fit on the head of a sewing needle), based on the early records of Schnellenberger, Johnson and yes Davis would have been howling for banner planes to fly to help fire those bums.

Now, I realize that the normal suspects will be down-voting this entry, along with the dumb, boring, etc. designations, not to mention the not terribly bright insults, but those actions do one thing...they prove my case. But where are the clowns--Send in the clowns--Don't bother, they're already here!

Very lucid post for 4 a.m. in all seriousness, but it really falls short of identifying one important point that seems to always be lost on the rah rah crowd:

You can absolutely be displeased and critical of a performance by players and coaches AND remain a fan.

I wish I could up-vote this twice. You hit the nail on the head.

1. When WEZ flew the banners to get rid of Golden - everyone said the same thing - we'll never get a coach to come here. Been there, heard that. If that were true - Richt wouldn't be here.

2. Butch Davis did the bulk of recruiting for Jimmy Johnson. Jimmy won his NC.

3. Jimmy Johnson's team - handed to Erickson - was already loaded - compliments of Butch Davis.

That accounts for the personnel that won three of those National Championships.

4. Butch then came in - after UM was handed 31 scholarship reductions - and recruited his own team - that in 2000 lost one game and should have played for a NC - in 2001 one - his boys under Clappy won a NC - and in 2002 - was cheated out of a NC in the last seconds.

Every team except Schnellenbergers - Butch had a big hand in recruiting those great teams.

Mark Richt is a good representative - well spoken, good at administrative things - a really nice guy.

But he's NOT an Offensive Coordinator. And NO ONE hires family if they have a brain in their head - Richt can't make changes. He's the guy who would have ordered the Charge of the Light Brigade.

I'm not negging you - but I do appreciate that you are stating the exact reasons that banners work - as the Admin and BOT think a lot like you do - and they don't like folks pointing out the obvious.

The purpose of a fan is to talk about critique and analyze. Just bc you don’t know as much football as cmr doesn’t mean you can’t comment on issues.

According to your logic only an expert can give valid opinions on something and if someone buys a car and thinks it sucks I guess for then since they don’t know how a car is made from the ground up they should just accept it

Would this new OC have some sort of special sauce that would get the QB to hit wide open receivers? There were plays to be had all over the field against the best defense on our schedule.

Constant thread hijacking by posters rehashing the same old drivel isn't doing this board any good. I tried to start a thread with decent material included to hopefully spark good back and forth. It quickly devolved into something wholely unrelated to the articles I linked to. I found myself seeking out other forums this week because what I found here mostly was unproductive at best. Kudos to those few posters and staff trying to have a reasonable conversation.

I don't think most here want to silence anyone but the repetitive emotionally based diatribes is driving good discussion away.

Yes, maybe he would help select the right QB since it would affect his job performance directly .... and let the HC manage the game overall

Both side of the argument should be allowed to post whatever opinion they have of the program.

Why would anyone tell someone to stop thinking what they think?

Some ppl rather this be homerinsight.com

Have your opinion, just base it fact and logic, not emotion or the fact that you think its still 1987.

Agree, but you can't get a coordinator during the season. The Good ones are busy coaching..

Being scared to fire your coach because you'll lose recruits and the fear of "not being able to get anyone better" isn't a great one.

I think there are some notable issues that - by Year 3 - are clear issues that are some indicators to a ceiling to our potential under Richt.

Both Quarterbacks - one regressed under Richt, the other just stinks and up to this point, refuses to play the young QBs he has recruited.
Lack of focus on the run game - a hallmark of Richt's offense and one of the reasons he can't get over the hump.
OL recruiting - Its not up to snuff nationally...needs a few classes full of Scaife and Reed types to get there.
DL recruiting - Its not up to snuff in conference, nevermind nationally...outside of a commitment to the run game, Richt's biggest knock, IMO.
Missing on big time local recruits - from Surtain Jr. to Campbell to Frank Ladson to Jerry Jeudy...its alarming.
A young staff surrounding him for the most part and none are particularly intriguing coaches long term.

Then from a statistical measure, 3rd down on offense and defense is gross. Rush attempts per game is horrendous. These are good metrics for good teams. Bad metrics for average to less than average teams.

If you don't think any of the above will change or get to national championship level, then I understand if you are calling for his head this early.

I am impressed that you could write sentence after sentence of total crap. You are the poster child for my original post. Never has anyone said so much that meant so little.

Instead of wasting my time knocking down all of that BS you proudly posted let’s just take one of your more laughable and clueless comments; “Lack of focus on the run game - a hallmark of Richt's offense and one of the reasons he can't get over the hump.”

Yet, the following is a sampling of coach Richt’s running backs who most all played in the NFL and some were Heisman trophy candidates….Danny Ware, Kregg Lumpkin, Thomas Brown, Knowshon Moreno, Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, and Todd Gurley. Kind of a head-scratcher when one considers your following words of wisdom. (Richt has a ) "Lack of focus on the run game". Makes me wonder what running backs would have joined Coach Richt at Georgia had he focused on the run game.

Listen Lombardi, might be time for you to retire from the world of UM football experts and just sit back and enjoy the games.

Yeah that’s what I was saying at the end of my last post, as much as we want some changes the only change that can be made during the season is benching Malik.
