He’s an RT
Getting Cantwell and Ervin in this class is huge, question is do we put Cantwell at LT or RT? If Bell comes back that would most likely slide Him to RT in place of Francis and Ervin could learn Behind Bell for a year before taking over as Well.
Any chance we slide Bell to RT in 2026?
At this rate Pancake, Tommy K, McCoy, SJ, Bell, + Cantwell/Ervin is one of the best 7 deeps in 2026, that’s without any potential OL transfers and if Brockermeyer/Cooper & Francis get drafted then we will be a VERY attractive stop for the top OL in the portalPancake and Kinsler would start on 90% of the teams in the power 4.
Think the 1rm calculators go a little out of whack once you get above 10-12 reps usually, So wouldn't take that 472.5lb as very accurate whatsoever. Going 30+ reps is FAR different than just training for 5 or less reps. Stamina is big there.
But:
Aaron Donald is 270-280 usually and has just under 33" arms which is what they're saying Cantwell has... But Cantwell has 6" and 20+lbs on him.
I only picked Donald because I've seen that clip of him talking about his bench. His thing is he's absurdly strong for his size. But he did 35 reps at the combine and has a 500lb (possibly more) max. DK with basically 35" arms did 27 reps on the bench at 230lbs and said his max is around 350.
Think the record holder at the combine is Stephen Paea who did an insane 49 reps at the combine. His max bench is like 550lbs or something like that....
The bench is literally the least important drill at the entire combine, tbh.
The risk v reward of doing the bench is really not there. Because ultimately the bench if you arent a lineman isn’t all that useful. Though I will say a WR/DB that does put up a lot of reps could benefit tbh.I had a CB kid who was projected to go 1st round possibly...tear his pec during the combine bench test and subsequently fall in the draft.![]()
Agree. The risk v reward of doing the bench is really not there. Because ultimately the bench if you arent a lineman isn’t all that useful. Though I will say a WR/DB that does put up a lot of reps could benefit tbh.
But honestly you look kinda lame if you don’t perform the bench and just signal that maybe you’re not a weight room guy or all that dedicated to getting stronger or something.
Like for me the jumps and agility drills are by far the most important. And it’s annoying how many Dlineman no longer perform the agility drills and long jump - probably cause they know how important it is…
I mean the pure result is often overrated. But the relative results or height/weight adjusted results are actually pretty useful. An edge player who is long and has a good 3 cone and long jump…well that’s a guy who can bend the corner and is explosive - exactly what you want.
**** this dude on some Martian steroidsFreak athlete...

5-star phenom Jackson Cantwell throws shot put 76 feet, smashes Missouri record, resets national mark for 4th time
It's long been speculated that nobody will ever touch Michael Carter's high school record in the shot put of 81-feet, 3.5 inches - a mark that has stood since 1www.si.com
Pretty sure the ncaa use heavier shot put. 12lb vs 16lbShotput Context:

These are the results from the Nike Outdoor Nationals meet last year in Eugene. Those who follow track know, the shoe company meets ( New Balance, Adidas, Nike, Brooks) are essentially the showcase meets to end the season (think UA vs All-American games). Only the best of the best qualify for Nike and NB.
Not only did he WIN last year, he did it going away. Kid already owns the stadium record for Hayward Field, sophomore and now Junior national record. Combining the shoe meets from last season, he would have won each by 6-10 feet.
Kid out threw the nation by 7 feet this year and the shoe meets havent even occurred this season yet.
Final note - the NCAA East Regionals- the meet that determines who makes it to Nationals- kicks off tomorrow. Looking at the performance list for that meet, Cantwell would be the #1 seed, by over 5 ft today.... let that sink in. 16 years old.

I would not bench at the Combine. The drill has no relation to on-field performance.I had a CB kid who was projected to go 1st round possibly...tear his pec during the combine bench test and subsequently fall in the draft.![]()
