No brainer for Defensive Player of the Year. This guy has been a force of nature this season. Loves his Canes, too.

If he keeps this up, he'll be weaning that Yellow Jacket first time he's up for it.

His numbers currently are solid. He would need to continue at this pace for at least 4 more years and win some more accolades.

HOF will be tough. He is currently at 71 sacks which is 83rd all time.

At the age of 31...he’ll get to 100 by the time he’s done.

100 isn't enough from a sacks stat alone to make the HOF. You need over 120 just to crack the top 20 all time. If he wins defensive MVP and the Jags win the SB that would go a long way. You do have to give him a break for being in a 3-4 his entire career. It's possibile but he'd have to play at a high level for at least 2 more seasons.

HOF will be tough but he has to be the current favorite for DPOY.

He's been elite for a while. Glad he's finally getting the attention.

So I’m guessing Cameron Wake wouldn’t get in the hall if you were voting...even though he’s probably been the most consistent pass rusher of the last decade.

Think he needs to avg 12 to 14 sacks over the remainder of his contract to get in.

Sapp by comparison has less than 100 Sacks, but he was maybe the most disruptive force in the league for half a decade, so its not only a numbers game (tho it helps).

What ever happened to his little brother. He too came to Miami and played safety for a few years. Can't recall him doing much at the U though. I remember everyone freaking out on signing day when Campbells letter didn't come in early. Then we found out they had a major blizzard and he couldn't even get to his school in Colorado until later in the day, at which time he finally signed and faxed in his letter.

Wake definitely needs to play a few more seasons to get in the HOF. He's been an edge rusher for 9 years with 90 sacks. He would need to get in that 120 range. Calais might not need that many since he played in the 3-4. Calais is more likely than Wake to get in because of age at this point.

So you’ll leave out a 5x pro bowler and 3x All-pro? Is that what you’re saying?

Disagree he has been a top 5 dlineman for nearly all of his career and was a big reason why the cardinals had any success

1 time 1st team all pro and YES. Wake currently doesn't deserve to be in the HOF. He needs to play longer at a high level. Unfortunately for him he started his NFL career late.

4x all pro....it doesn’t matter if I was 1st or 2nd team All pro is All pro. It means you were one of the best 4 DE’s in football. He’s probably probably going to make his 6th pro bowl and his 5th All pro team this year as well.

He's not up there with guys like Freeney, Mathis, and Suggs who are shoe ins for the HOF. Those guys have 120 plus sacks, multiple pro bowls, and have won SB's. I don't think Dumervil is a shoe in for the HOF right now. He has 104.5 sacks, multiple pro bowls, and won an SB. Wake needs to play two more years just to catch Dumervil.

Getting into the HOF on the first ballot is nearly impossible for anyone that wasn't wire to wire a top 3 player at their position for at least a decade. It's especially difficult to be a 1st ballot on the defensive side of the ball.

That said, I don't think Calais will have the numbers to get into the HOF, playing in Arizona for as long as he did will also hurt him.

You think a player like Charles Woodson for example gets in on first ballot?

Yeah, that dude was All-Pro in 2 different positions. 2021 is going to be one of the best classes of all time.
