I mean you're talking about one of the greatest players of all time. There's no way Ray Lewis could have gone his entire career without winning a DPOY. The 2 times he won it it was basically impossible for them not to give it to him, he undeniably deserved them. Calais on the other hand doesn't have the cachet that Ray had and thus it was easier for them to award the DPOY to someone else without it looking suspicious. The NFL can get away with giving it to Aaron Donald as opposed to Calais without really any public outcry so imo its just a way for them to subtly hate on the canes.
 
Aaron Donald collapsed the pocket at a rate that we haven't seen in two decades. You can argue Calais' scheme versatility but I don't know, both guys were huge this year. Wouldn't have minded either one winning it.

I admit I exaggerated with the total BS part cause Donald is pretty deserving to but with the way Calais came on the scene this year I figured he would be recognized for the strides he made. Aaron Donald does the same stuff albeit great stuff every year but that doesn’t mean he should win it every year. There’s a reason Michael Jordan didn’t win the MVP every year even though you could make the argument he deserved it
 
Love Campbell and he had an amazing year but Donald has been and will continue to be the defensive player in the NFL. That guy is beyond elite.
 
Unlucky, deserved some sort of defensive MVP award. Played a massive part in completely turning around the Jags.

Donald is elite but I still think Calais deserved it more. His team made it one further round then the Rams AND they had a joke of an offense. They made it that far because of the defense and he was the catalyst.

Stats wise he has 3.5 more sacks but two less forced fumbles. But he has a TD and 15 more tackles. They’re both deserving but when you look at what Calais did for that team and his stats, he’s definitely the better of the two this year in my opinion.

Yeah and he dominated too. I dont think ive seen anyone successfully block the man. Stats dont do justice to Donald so listing them is a moot point. He is the best defensive lineman in football. No contest.

Id rather have a Cane win every award hes up for tho.
 
If the season was 13 weeks long Calais probably wins it unanimously.

Jags threw up some duds to end the season and he had 3 of his worst games the last 4 weeks of the season, at least when it comes to the "**** numbers" the voters tend to drift to.

I feel like you guys don’t understand that DPOTY doesn’t solely mean best player. If it did the award would have multi time winners all the time. I understand that Aaron Donald is unblockable but we all knew that. Calais came on the scene this year in such a positive and unexpected way and helped catapult the jaguars to the afc championship game. He will not have another year like that again and Donald will have like 10 more years of dominance. That’s why imo they should have given it to calais
