Cal vs Oregon

This is going to turn into panic selling on Mario Cristobal stock. Anyone who went long on Stoops or Kiffin is going to collect.

That's largely a narrative formed within our fanbase because he was an excellent lineman for us and people have created some mythology about his personality and "toughness". It's not rooted in anyone having actually watched Oregon football.
You’ve never been a fan of his if I think about it or am I reading it wrong? I’m not arguing. He gives me Butch Extra Light vibes.

So…we want Miami lose games so we fire the HC, and some of us want Cristobal to lose a few games so we can hire him quicker.

A lose-lose is a win?
Right, but what if we're getting Al Golden with a better Interior Offensive Line?

I don’t want to over-react but it’s hard to argue with what you’ve written. I think he’s better than Manny and would improve us but he’s not a slam dunk home run hire.

As I said three weeks ago when Cristobal was the flavor of the week (before it shifted to Clawson, then Stoops)... if you want Cristobal, then just get Schiano. He essentially gives you the same style of coach as Mario, but he is less expensive and has a smaller buyout.

If you want Stoops, then get Ed Orgeron instead. Stoops makes a gazillion dollars at UK with all his incentives and no expectations , Ed O is probably going to be a free agent and would cost pennies on the dollar. He built one of the most dominant teams of the century just two years ago.

The two coaches that I think would be the best fits and most successful are Tom Herman and Lane Kiffin. Also similar coaches in a lot of ways.

#2 Lane Kiffin

#1.JON GRUDEN

BTW I should note that I'm not anti Cristobal. Solid coach, I just think he has ceiling and isn't going to sneak up on anyone and win a national championship through exceptional game planning or coaching (if we're lucky, he can be like Ed O and hire exceptional coordinators who are brilliant and maybe catch lightning in bottle- his main job is to make sure the players are tough).
