Is Saban an Octogenarian? Nope. Same exact age as Butch Davis.

If Saban lost his damned mind - and tomorrow said he wanted to coach at Miami - would you also suggest he's too old?

C'mon, you're better than that.

Sign Butch up for three - let him prove himself - and split the buyout. Or start him out at less than $4mil, and increase pay as he starts to win out.

By all means - let's toss out a known factor. A program builder. Who's steadily improving at FIU - of all places.
 
I was ****ed at Butch for leaving the way he did. I've long since gotten over that and firmly believe he regrets it.

Butch is 67 and I'd gladly give him the next 5 years to coach at Miami. It's possible there are better choices, but it just feels like there's some unfinished business.

Apparently, if you'll look at his 2000 team - he wasn't a terrible game day coach - we lost one game to Washington - at the time a really good team -

Talent last night saved Alabama. Talent last night saved Clemson. Talent alone has saved a number of Richt's wins.

Yeah, Butch does rely on talent - just like all the great coaches - but unlike other coaches - even Saban - Butch KNOWS talent, evaluates it without peer - EVER - and can close the deal on great talent.

Well being that I went 6-10 to 1-15 without him coaching the dolphins while the Browns got worse and worse throughout the years with Butch and also judging their coaching records...and one had 6 championships and the other struggled to beat ECU and Rick Neuheisal...
