I get it. Y’all have been so beat up the last decade and a half you want the one man who made you feel good to come back and tell you everything’s going to be ok. The one man who left you while the love was still good, whose promises didn’t die on the vine. I hope that octogenarian can still get up on his white horse and blow you kisses as well on the field as he can in your dreams.

You mistake the love of what Butch did and the talent he left BOTH times he touched our recruiting for some sort of personal devotion. Dennis ran that talent into the ground and so did Larry. The other three crumps were not fortunate enough to have All Pro teams Butch leaves. We wants that skill back at Miami where it can be used to its fullest. Then you can have whatever loser you deem fit to get us number six and maybe seven.

Yes. Technically, he left “on his own”. The way you finally leave a fiancé that refuses to set a wedding date for ten years. You can’t completely absolve the UM administration of what went down with Butch. They didn’t exactly show him the love you’d expect after lifting this program from the depths of despair to historic powerhouse.

Butch's agent contacted Miami in 2006 and told Dee Butch was strongly interested in Miami's open HC position. Dee told Butch's agent to pound sand.

You can complain about Butchs game coaching all you want and still be butthurt that he left for the NFL, but it's incontrovertible UM would have been a better off if they rehired Butch in 2007.

By comparison, Richt had to be talked into taking the job. And he's mentioned before that winning isn't a life priority for him - that rings collect dust.

I think that when the OP refers to “Butch haters”, he is making an analogy to the mindset that has plagued the administration in its selection process for the past 16 years, i.e., we do not want killers, we are the “Stanford of the East” and want milquetoast coaches who carry us as far away from the unseemly identity that won us five national championships.

I wouldn’t take Urban ever. I was saying he can say whatever he wants that’s not going to guarantee it happens. I’m sure he told UNC he would bring one there also. I don’t hate butch I hate the bring him back crowd as if we can’t find better.
