Butch, Patterson, Dantonio, Pinkel, Strong

I don't understand what makes people think Dantoni or Patterson are going to leave the places they are now where they have things rolling strong and are basically unfireable. Why give that up to come to Miami and have the expectations placed on them that this fanbase will place on them.
Those are great jobs but everyone knows this is a good place to win championships. Harbaugh probably is going to have a pretty good long run at Michigan and Patterson has probably taken that talent as far as he can. I love Pinkel but maybe he see's winning a ship at Mizzu is almost impossible but at Miami you can win ACC much easier than SEC and can get the talent that bama,Florida and LSU have and go beat them with it. If their expectations are not to win ships then they can say no. Those coaches with our location to the surrounding talent would tear it up! That all being said BBB! Pinkel is my #2 if you are going to take a chance on a up and comer Hermann#3 and Fuente #4

So you think Dantoni and Patterson can't win it all where they are? TCU and Baylor have the Texas recruiting base which is pretty good. Yes Texas takes most of the top recruits, but there are enough players to go around. Did you forget both TCU and Baylor had 1 loss last year each and if not for the stupid co champion crap or the fact that FSU was undefeated against weak competition, one of them would have easily been in the playoff.

Look at Dantoni at Michigan St. He is undefeated right now. All they have to do is win out. The only real challenge they have left is Ohio St. who hasn't looked that great this year.

I'm pretty sure they are more than happy to win 10-11 games a year with a shot at a title run every year and a fanbase that is completely ok and excited about that, vs coming to Miami where the fanbase is calling for his head because he fell to 9 wins in a down year in an area where every school is trying to recruit your backyard.

Because some people want more than to be "unfireable". Some people actually want to compete and win championships

It's funny because both have been a lot closer to competing for championships than we have in a long time. They are already competing at a championship level. Just coming to Miami does not guarantee them anything. Only one team can win it all. Let's not act like the fact they haven't won it all means they have settled for not winning when they are regularly having 1-2 loss seasons at most.

What expectations...Winning the coastal?

That might be your expectations, but I'm pretty sure the fanbase doesn't give 2 ****s about the Coastal. Seriously, the fact that we haven't won the Coastal yet as bad as this division and conference have been the last few years is a testament of how bad our coaching has been.
Last I checked you have to win the coastal to meet any other "fan expectations ". Since we havent even met that one how about we get to Charlotte first. Once we reach that bar then I'll raise it

I never remember any of our other coaches with the expectation of lets win the Big East first, then we can raise the bar.

Lol, how the mighty have fallen.

What's even worse is we are usually not even in 2 place in the coastal standing at the end of the year. We HAVE got to get the right coach hired!

I can agree their. Let's hope they don't **** this one up.

U lost me at strong

Strong got really good when he had Hurtt recruiting and cheatin in South Florida. Teddy Bridgewater and some miami boys made an average coach look really good.... Wonder how much $ those boys made Charlie Strong. Highly doubtful he wins without top tier talent. Average coach with anything else.

I hate this mentality, and it's the reason why we've had an administration putting limited resources towards the football program. The last three hires are an example of it.

We've won 5 national championships and played in eight over the last 30 years, what makes you think we need to set our sights on getting to Charlotte? With the right coach, that won't be a problem. We need to think about who can get us to the playoffs and possibly win us some ships. Forget about settling to reach the ACC championship.

You don't get it.

If we don't make it the the ACC title game we don't make it to the 'ship. Last 10 years we have a losing bowl record and never made it out of our division. Is that settling?? No its being a realist. Of course I want another at NCs. I can expect national championships if we can't even finish at the top of a weak division. Our last 2 HC coach never won a conference title. Once we win the ACC I'll be the first calling for national championships

At this point butch is the only option or we'll be in the same position four years from now

I would take either of the names listed before Strong first.... but Strong is a much better candidate than Herman and Fuentes. Dont see how they're ok but Strong isn't?

No, I think they both can but I don't think it's likely. Patterson is always going to get leftovers and I think Harbaugh is gonna own MSU. If they are winning enough to keep their fans happy and being "in it" every year is their goal then stay there. I didnt say anything about Baylor. I think they might win it.
Obviously we need help and things aren't perfect here work needs done. But out of all places that were mentioned we have the best shot to string some ships together. Just need the right guy. BBB!!
