Butch Davis was the Right Choice

So stupid. He's the same guy Rick is except he's 10 years older. Both guys need a significant talent advantage to beat anyone. Both are ultra-conservative.

I basically agree but there are two major differences.

1 - Butch has a much, much better eye for talent. Look at Richt's classes at Georgia. Almost none of the lower rated guys panned out. Butch was a master at finding 3 star guys with raw skills and then coaching them up into studs.

2 - Balls. Butch has balls. Richt does not.

Have you ever seen Richt get on a guy on the sidelines? Over anything? We had like three horrible late QB hit penalties vs VT. Did Richt scold any of the guys responsible after they got back on the sidelines? Nope. What he did do was give our kicker a big hug and smile after he missed an extra point.

Compare that to Butch who players were terrified of and who wanted to rip Sebastian's head off for that penalty in the Sugar Bowl.

And to be clear, I'm not saying that you have to be an ******* like Brian Kelly or Bo Pelini and degrade your guys constantly.

But at some point they have to be held accountable for their actions and coached up. I've never seen Richt do that. In fact the last coach I saw do anything of the sort was Coley. He tried to get on Kaaya once for ******* up the snap count and Golden made him back off. There's a reason our players are so soft.

It should of been him but we talking bout Miami now .......i would of liked Herman alot

herman was never coming here people

So he didn't get on kayaas @ss during the NC game after throwing into coverage..once..again..

He didn't call malcom lewis a dumb@ss basically right after he fielded that kick off?

Don't sit here and mistake a calm demeanor for timidness, by all means hire muschamp if that's what you want

If Miami had taken the 20 million that they gave Richt over five years and offered it to Herman over three, you think he would've turned that down?

7 mil a year for three years. Kick *** with South Florida athletes and then go the NFL.

Boom.

don't let facts get in the way of more personal attacks, by all means man the torpedoes, fire everything!!

Tom Herman wasn't coming to Miami.

There is no proof that this true. There is also no proof that we made a real attempt at him. Given our BOT/AD and the list we assembled explains a lot.

What we do know is Mark Richt makes more than Tom Herman.

We've gotta be the only fan base that wants a coach no one else wants...wait we actually are because no one else wants Davis. SMH.

I hate to break it to the board but after Herman's extension last year, his base salary is still around $3MM. Currently, Richt's base salary is $4MM.

If Miami was serious, they could have made Herman their number one priority. They could have at least offered him Richt's money (which is more than Houston). They should have offered him at least $5MM as a base salary.

I don't see Herman turning down a base of that amount and a serious offer last year.

Butch's record vs. Va Tech:

@ Miami: 1-5 (didn't win one until his last season);
@ UNC: 1-3... actually 0-4, that win was vacated.

Total: 1-9. Yes, having him on the sideline Thursday would've made all the difference. You people are insane.

It took Butch 6 years to win 10 games, and we're ready to declare Richt the wrong choice after 7 games.

I'll admit he was my number 1 with butch davis at 2 but.. that being said

he just gave up 46 points to navy in a loss and then let tulsa drop 31 in a 7 point win

that aura is starting to wear off really quickly

also while there's no definitive proof we went after him, one can rightfully assume that he didn't want to go anywhere in the first place since he could have went ANYWHERE.. and chose to stay right where he's at

this notion that we could have thrown that money at him and he would have come.. ok so that stopped all the other schools from the doing the same thing ESPECIALLY usc?
