Butch should have been the guy hired to restore Miami to elite status and win championships

Butch was not my number one choice. But when it came out that the final four were Butch, Richt, Mullen and Schiano, I wanted Butch.

The decision to go with Richt is looking worse by the day.
 
Why? He has won more than 9 games once. That's unacceptable around here. Lol we would have the same record with Butch with this team. Only people that want Butch coaching anything is nostalgic Miami fans. He will never coach here again. Let it go.

The offensive coordinator would've been the big hire for Butch. He's a defensive guy, he knows his **** and he would've brought in someone good. The defense would've been alright.

His UNC offense was an abortion and I'm not 100% convinced a Butch offense at Miami would've been much better. He likely would've went with a conservative I-form guy.
 
Butch was my number 1, but I'll admit that Richt was acceptable. Butch would have brought more passion and fire, Richt seems more tepid and passive. Would the present results be any different? IMHO, we would have had at least one more win, possibly two.

Because of his age, I believe Butch would have wanted more immediate results. He wouldn't have gotten a free pass, because of his previous tenure here; and he knew it. However, we all know SS Butch has sailed; he's never going to happen.

Let's also consider if Richt has done better than Fraulden, if he was still here. IMHO, we'd have the same record, but we'd be more ****ed off. We are now slipping into the realization that Cane football is dead, for this season. All these losses aren't going to help Richt's recruiting, which will doom us even longer.
 
I still do not understand why so many people want a coach that the other >100 FBS programs don't want . If Butch is such a good coach, why hasn't any other program picked him up?

He had his opportunity but he chose the Cleveland Browns.

I know it sucks believe me being an old Canes fan going 10 years to The OB and not losing a game I am through with this ****!

But let's try to give Richt the benefit of the doubt here. I have no motivation to say this believe me. His offensive staff sucks! He needs to add an experienced guy. He wants to call the plays ok but can't do it alone not after 10 years. Get someone experienced. Briles is a pipe dream unless no one wants to hire him and look Louisville even hired Petrino again.

Saban sucked in his first year. So did Butch and Petrino. Fuente's first year too true VT isn't more talented. They are deeper and they still have Bud Foster.

I am so sick of losing to these weak assed teams but facilities will be on par with the other major programs. I know people don't agree when I say Canes need their own stadium. Maybe someday but first things first Richt needs to make major changes in offseason and recruit as hard as he ever has.

I think he is as upset as anyone it hurts. We will be ok but doesn't help dull the pain now losing to FSU every year and now The Coastal is gone too.

This time next year no progress I am with everyone.We need to see improvement across the board. I think there will be changes to the staff in offseason.

Butch got fired. Fired for NCAA violations. No school has hired him as a result and Miami only now is finishing its probation.

Richt is an alumnus with 2 SEC titles and head coach of the #3 school in 2007.

Sorry, but these are all facts. To say that the adminsitration didn't want to win is absurd.

20 vacancies have occured in the last year and none were filled by Butch.
 
I think it would of been the same ish with butch good defense sorry offense. Our o-Line is garbage and we don't have a mobile QB, were going to look like a different team next year once we get rid of some of these AL golden can't get right players.

Impossible for that to be done. By all accounts he was about to take the year off.

Not sure why anyone would want to torture themselves about who the coach should have been. Richt will be here for a long time no matter how upset you are.

You are talking in hypotheticals when you speculate how another coach would have done thus far this year with
1. The most immobile QB in the NCAA and a bench so bad no one can take his starting spot
2. An Oline that doesnt have the skill set to perform vs good P5 teams
3. Below avr RBs
4. The 2 best D players getting tossed along with a proven backup
5. A secondary with one standout player and pretty much that's it

Richt has won before on a consistent basis and is a proven recruiter which is the life blood of this game.

Way too early for this kind of talk 7 games into Richt's 1st year.

The AD didn't have the ballz to hire Butch. If he had, Miami would be rollin right now. Butch da gaawwd.
 
Before Richt signed with Miami, Virginia and Maryland already made moves on Richt and that was in a very short amount of time.
