Butch Davis is going to save us from Manny Diaz

I doesn't mean he can't, here at Miami, either. Your argument, by definition, is a Red Herring. You have shown zero correlation between Butch's age and his coaching.

I don't need to show a correlation between Butch's age and his coaching, only that the industry uses age to value coaches. The only coaches to win National Championships after the age of 60 are Bobby Bowden (70), Bear Bryant, Joe Paterno, and Nick Saban. If Butch were to win a National Championship at Miami he would be the oldest coach to win his first title.

There is your correlation.

Butch never won a title. I doubt Saban hopes to never win one.
That's extremely disingenuous.

I genuinely respect your opinion but you know he gets full credit for 2001, and should have gone in 2000 except for the bull**** BCS sending the team we beat in our place.

Butch's time may very well be past, but I'd like to find out for certain instead of taking a chance on Mario or any of the other duds you know they'd pick.

Not when your argument is pure Red Herring, no.

Again...

The only coaches to win National Championships after the age of 60 are Bobby Bowden (70), Bear Bryant, Joe Paterno, and Nick Saban. If Butch were to win a National Championship at Miami he would be the oldest coach to win his first title.

That is why age matters and therefore not a red herring.

So its actually been done by at least 4 others. IOW you have no idea whether he would or wouldn't based on his age. Classic Red Herring.
Stastically, based on the last decade, what age coach that we could realistically hire, gives the best chance of championship?
