Butch Davis is going to save us from Manny Diaz

There's no downside to Butch at all. What's the very worst that can happen? We have such a bad record that we won't be bowl eligible?

Butch isn't the coach Saban is.
You are a staff member?? Wow. What a clown response. Butch is every bit the coach Saban is. The difference is what Saban has around him and what Butch has around him.

They both know how to win. They both know how to instill that winning mentality. Butch won with UNC as much as anyone expected them to. The guy left Miami and regrets it. 67 is nothing.

I’ll say it again. Everyone worships the ground J.J. walls on. But Davis did more for this program than J.J. did.

I am pulling for Butch agains Manudo on the site of the orange bowl

I don't doubt that, but i can still dream. That's all I'm left with.
Even I know the ship has sailed....Nobody on this board knows Butch like I do except @dsddcane...But thats okay....Once again I'll ask ONE simple question....(and always get some stupid *** response)....
How have things been since the last of Butch's kids and Assistants left in 2004???....
I'll wait for the 10,000th time....

I think you replied to the wrong guy, but...

If I'm 68 doing something I love at a school without pressure to reach the top levels, I'm not leaving to go complete unfinished business at a high stress job at a school that shows little interest in their athletics program by having an incompetent administration staff.

Butch is astute and I'm sure he has an opinion of the AD and BOT similar to most on here. Why would anyone deliberately step into that unless it was a gamble to improve your career?

Sadly, Butch will never come back, but I still buy lottery tickets so I guess odds really aren't my thing.

Oh, and to answer your question, despite some flashes of talent, pretty crappy.

I'm not going to pile on the negative Butch pile. Enough of that has already been done. But realistically, if he took over at the end of this season at 69 years old, how long would it take for him to turn things around? There's over 15 years of mediocrity to overcome along with an athletic department that is less than desirable.

I don't know what the answer is, but Butch ain't it.

What if FIU beats Miami, Diaz gets fired immediately and Butch Davis announced the HC of the 2020 fb season?

What are the odds we lose to FIU and the odds that an FIU loss would result in Manny being fired this season?

I say 50% chance we lose and 90% chance Manny would get fired if we do. That would guarantee a 3 or 4 win season at best.
Hey OP can you give me some excuses why Nkosi lost? Im in the mood for some

Diaz ain't getting fired year one, regardless of going 3-9 this season. He took over a dog of a program and will get at least three years to to work through that. End your fantasy now as the only realistic part of it is that Butch Davis and FIU have a good shot of beating Miami at Marlins Park late November.

That, and not to many successful stories where guys go back for round two somewhere they once had success and come anywhere close to matching that success—meaning anything short of the miracle Butch pulled last time, as well as winning a national championship, would be a letdown.

Look ahead, not in the rearview. Butch ain't coming back and he's not the coach he was in the mid-to-late nineties. End of story.

The shame is that he didn't come back late 2006 when Coker was dead-man-walking and North Carolina hired him weeks before Loser Larry was canned like tuna.

THAT was the time to bring him back; not 13 years later.
