Butch Davis is 1-15 since cheating against Miami with fake injuries in Marlins stadium in 2019.

Butch Davis is the architect of rhe greatest college football team ever assembled and you WISH the current Canez played like his did. Now go on and lie and say you don't.

Wish I knew how to gif in 2019. This one's for you @SWFLHurricane.

The fact that we still have threads about him shows what a complicated legacy he has at UM. I prefer simpler, cleaner coaching legacies like Schnelly’s or JJ’s, heck even Richt’s.

To me Butch doesn’t love the U, not in the same way those other guys do.

You have to look at what Butch did in the 1980’s under JJ. I was there at the OB in the mid to late 80’s when his defensive line was Dominating everyone. And if he had any hand in recruiting the players that made up our ‘89 and ‘91 title teams, That adds to his legacy. And he should have in addition to a Sugar Bowl win also an Orange Bowl win over Notre Dame in his first year (1995) if it wasn’t for a self imposed bowl ban.

Butch got lucky with the great generation of players that came through during his coaching tenure here.
Still he didn't win with them, it was Coker who coached us to the title game.
If he was this great talent evaluator like his cult like followers think why he hasn't replicated it anywhere else or since.

I am absolutely convinced the ghosts that haunt the former site of the Orange Bowl cursed him and his career for his classless act of having players flop against the college that gave him his first head coaching job. The place he says he regrets leaving.

1-15. That a 6% win percentage. 6. Worst record of any coach in CFB since. ANY. The last time he won a game no one in America even knew what Covid-19 was. Thank god for him they played Long Island University this year. What a terrible way to end an up and down career.

Haunted. Cursed. Horrible.

Prove me wrong.

Great post. His best days are waaaaaaay behind him. Time to put the old horse down……..

We should be so lucky to have a coach with Butch's resume.

To sit here and bash they guy who brought us back from the brink is ridiculous. Without him, there would be no 2000-2002 dynasty. Regardless of his exit and performance thereafter, dancing on his grave isn't a good look.
Totally agree. And the people implying we are better with Manny are ridiculous. If Butch was 16-1, these porsters wouldn't be bringing his name up at all.

Bruh, this makes the University of Miami and Manny look even worse!!! Losing to FIU is one of the most embarrassing losses in CFB history.

So, a coach for FIU that is 1 of his last 15 beat Manny and the university of Miami?

Or actually, an FIU coach that is 2 of his last 16, when you couldn’t the Miami whipping???
I never thought it could be worse than the UVA game at the OB but FIU was much worse in my opinion

Manny should have been fired on the spot

Lucky? There is no luck in assembling a team like that. Ask around from coaches in the know.

Lucky was Coker. Lucky was Florida State. Lucky was Alabama. Lucky was Florida. Lucky was Georgia.

He should have won the title in 2000 but we weren't invited to the championship. FSU went despite the fact we beat them. He hasn't reached that level at NC (or FIU) because Miami has the homegrown talent and UM has better football marketing/swagger/support. It just further shows how poor the coaches since him have been. With our location and history, we should be perennial contenders...at the very least win the Coastal.

So why hasn't he done it again since.

I love how some of you think that's why we lost that game, or that doing that Bush league move threw us off our game so hard it was a legit excuse for losing.

Is 1-15 FIU, a program situated in there most fertile recruiting base in America lucky to have a coach with Butch's resume?

Asking for a brainwashed group of Cane fans that can't accept current reality and would defend Butch if he murdered Ed Reed in the middle of San Amaro Drive. Thanks!

Why is it the extremes? Can't you just acknowledge what he did for us and let it be? Why tear the man down and try to diminish his accomplishments?

What accomplishments? He didn't win anything for us and many defending him now were mad at him for his gameday coaching back then.
