Butch da God built this

I don't know if Butch could have created another alltime roster had he been hired instead of Richt.

I do believe this year's team would be better with Butch as HC.

I’m of the same mindset. However, I do feel that our classes would’ve been better as Butch’s eye is still solid. I think we would be tougher and more disciplined.

Not sure you talking about me are Jag, but if you did not understand my last one let me know and I will try one more time. Am going to invite you on a real hawghunt after first of year, that sissy guy from N. Y. afraid to go. Put you down in swamp and you will understand real quick about hogs, hawgs, Hawgs, dogs, Dogs, Dawgs.

Used to hunt hogs with little leopard dogs from Texas on horseback in the Hellhole Swamp in South Carolina - and a large private reserve just north of Savannah with Robert Cruz and Tom Coleman.

We caught them with our bare hands - tied them up, and carried them out across the saddle - and sold them. Been in a lot of gunfights - and this catching them was clearly the most dangerous - but most exciting thing I've ever really loved doing. We'd come back in bleeding and bruised - but the best of times! Once you dove for his hind legs - you didn't dare turn loose!

I dont care if the next coach is Mario, or even Diaz, **** Dorsey or Butch... I just want someone that will build a legit staff, if we do that, the croots and wins will come.

If Mario came in, hired a terrific spread OC like Mike Yurchich, a DC like Corey Raymond, really good recruiters with tacticians at key positions like OL & DL, and then of course demanded results, hes gonna win at least 9 to 10 a year and stack croots until the 2ndary looks like an NFL group, the WRs cant be covered, the RBs break gashing runs, Joe Blow 3* QBs will look good, the LBs will be the fastest LB unit in CF and the lines will be athletic. We'd be giving Clemson a run in 4 years, by 6 our system and speed would cause fits, its not as complicated as we may it seem. ****, a competent AD could get it done, but the next HC will have full and complete control, just like the last couple failures have.

This is y I say our team ain’t dead.

Different Culture. Pep Rallies had cars mimicking FSU colors and getting beat up. Players using free time to study, not tweet. Goons and savages embraced. Players looking like grown men instead of college students. Players upset they winning at half time, but not blowing ppl out. OL look big and athletic, instead of baby fat. Cool jerseys, cool reporters, man just different.

If it wasn’t for YouTube, I would be lost. Nothing about this team remotely resembles a Miami Hurricane team.

I remember Ahmmon was trying to mimick some of the old school Canes dances w his teammates in practice, and they looked lost. It hurt my heart. We have/had several players that resembles old Canes, like Ahmmon, Duke, Njoku, M. Young, Pinckney, Willis. There’s a couple of others, but it’s been far in between seeing a team full of what Canes should be and it’s due to coaching. Too many stubborn do-gooders around.

What’s the point of this thread? Butch built a dynasty in waiting, that’s for sure. But broke out before realizing how great a program he built. Had he stayed, UM would have had a run that makes this current Bama run look insignificant. Actually Bama probably never goes on it’s current run because they would have had to compete with the UM juggernaut for the best talent. The “Wall” around SFLA” would have been firm. We would have had the pic of the lot of who we wanted in SFLA and won our share OOS 5 stars as well. Our biggest issue has been the lack of continuity with our best coaches. If Schnelly, JJ and Butch would have stayed longer and create a better transition of of leadership, OMG!!! Point is, Butch ****ed us and set us on up for failure. I appreciate what he did but I don’t enshrine him like some of you guys do. He is a great coach whose legacy will never be as great as it could have been he saw the big picture.

Another poster who - his proctologist absolutely must love - with the relative ease he can reach around and pull things out of his ***.

Butch's last year - 2000 - with a full roster for the first time - he lost only one game to #3 Washington - and didn't get to play Oklahoma for the National Championship - and FSU who we beat - were given our spot against Oklahoma.

The team Butch handed Clappy - and in 2001, won the NC. Butch's players.

In 2002 - still mostly Butch's players - we got cheated out of the NC to Ohio State.

That's who we're talking about - THAT Butch Davis.

Guy wins zero titles, bolts for a paycheck, and finds himself coaching FIU in the Bahamas Bowl.

But he is a football gawd.
At first glance I read “guy with zero ****ies....” I was a little worried where u were going, but I admit I was intrigued as well

Its not dead, but its not an instant revive either. Its a 5 year rebuild. 3 years to get the right system in place, and in year 4 and 5 you'll be replacing some coaches here or there, and you gotta hire the right guys, perhaps splash hires, and then bam, the Canes are making trouble again.

Butch Davis record was 55-20 in six years as Miami HC. His win percentage was 73%. Butch had to overcome crippling sanctions which makes his record more than amazing.
compare that to Saban for example whose career win percentage is 79%.

richt doenst have the fire to get it done. i mean people overlook the fact he is an hc for 18 years and than a oc at a high level before that without ever taking a break.

My coach makes $4 million per year in a Power 5 conference. Da Gawd is battling Old Dominion and Rice to try to hold on to third place in the Conference USA East Division. If anything, we can tell who is smarter.

A Miami coach losing to UVA and duke.

A FIU coach battlin rice for 3rd place.

Gimme the fiu guy. Obviously the Miami coach losing to those teams is garbage.

I totally agree. I do not believe he gets a 6th year. I think losing to Wisky, UF & FSU are real possibilities. I think 6-6 for 2019 has a real chance. And crooting next year may be worse. if he finishes 8-4 or 7-5 he probably gets a 5th year though. I'm not certain if he can make it through year 5 if Diaz beats him.

he has to win at least 9 games to be considered to come back next year.
