Butch's skillset is mainly for college game. he is great at recruiting and developing kids. He has never been a great gameday/x's and o's guy.
He build miamis talent level up to the point where the talent overwhelmed over teams. In NFL with a salary cap, you're not going to do that.

I don't get this....

Belichek and Saban are the exact same personality......Why is Saban an ego-maniac who can't succeed in then NFL because of this and not Belichek.

Why are Pitino and Calipari "ego maniacs"? I never hear those guys talking in "me, me, me" terms. They don't belittle the media and act like jerks.

What constitutes making an coach an "ego maniac"......Why doesn't Phil Jackson, Pat Riley or Popovich qualify if Calipari and Pitino do?
 
Butch came to UM against serious advice from just about every other respectable coach with breath left in their lungs, and he built the GOAT college football teams. For that, I think we are all forever in his debt.

But for those of you with a Butch love affair, the feeling isn't mutual. Butch is no different than any other coach. He's about Butch. He left us with our collective diques in Larry Coker's liver-spotted hands. When he was up against us in recruiting, he did whatever he had to do, even at our expense. He straight-up scum-bagged us on more than one occasion.

For those of you that are always waiting to jump back into bed with the guy, just remember, at any moment he will rollover and tell you he doesn't feel the same way. FIU, you're on notice.

It's a stupid comment. Ego maniac is a prerequisite for leading a group of millionaire alpha males. Ego maniacs make great professional coaches. Dumbasses make bad ones. Saban and Butch chose Miami and Cleveland, respectively. Dumbasses. Two of the worst run NFL organizations over the last several decades, including the era in which they both signed on.

this is the thing about butch.

1.) he came here when NO ONE wanted the job and the future of the program was in question.
2.) he was not a great gameday coach, but he understood how to recruit miami talent and was amazing at recruiting and development so
he was able to overwhelm teams.
3.) i never liked coker but he found very good coaches.
4.) no one knows the true story why he left. i have heard shalala wanted to bring in alvarez so she reneged on an offer to him. She had the
able to do so even though she had not officially started.
5.) UNC was a mess before Butch got there. He never got over the hump but he was putting very good players into the NFL by the time he left.
6.) He was cleared regarding UNC. He had schools reach out to him but i heard he was waiting for golden to get fired to see if he could get
a crack at coming back.
7.) He will make FIU a very good C-USA team.
8.) We have Mark Richt and even thought i wanted Butch, im happy so far with the results.

I think Butch would have won an NC his last year but the cfb world was set on getting Stoops his ring. Butch probably would have
won 3-5 rings if he stayed, problem was he left, has no rings and saban has a few. Saban has the better resume. The end
 
Saban could pursue any college or NFL head coach opening.

BoRtch hasnt won 9 or more games since 2000 and just lost by 25 to a 6 loss Temple team.

Getting blown out by FAU and Temple in the same season should disqualify anyone from being the next Nick Saban. I'll give Butch a pass for getting out coached by Scott Frost.
