But, what if TVD really DOES use this opportunity...?

If by some miracle, the offensive line becomes one of the best in the nation next year, TVD’s numbers will still be pedestrian. The passing game is designed for game manager type quarterbacks. Very few throws to the outside. Everything is an underneath route for a slot receiver or a dump off to a back or tight end. Look at Michigan’s passing offenses under Gattis. Even in 2021, with the best line in the nation, Michigan’s quarterback only averaged around 220 yards per game and had 15 touchdown passes in 14 games.
You’re not wrong. Offense as we all lived through was abysmal. In 2021 UofM avg 443 yds a game, 220 passing, 215 rushing with a 2QB system. QBs threw for 20TDs. RBs/WRs ran for 38TDs. Haskins rushed for more than 1300 yards while BC had close to 900…avg 36 ppg this year

in that same Michigan system what did McCarthy do this season? That kids play and talent unlocked a lot of different things. 2700 passing yards, 22 TDs, 5 on the ground..BC rushed for over 1400 yards 18TDs, Edwards was 9 yards short of 1000 himself with 7 TDs..they avg 37 ppg this szn

That’s what that Michigan system produced. Why didn’t it work year 1 in Miami? We can look directly at Olineman play and the musical chairs upfront from an injury standpoint. We can point to being down 3RBs. We can look at poor execution up front blocking. We can point to losing your top playmakers at different times of the year at TE, RB, W. We can also directly point to the QB play missing opportunity for big plays that were there at times as well or we can sum it all up to the OC.

.it really doesn’t matter because it needs to get fixed in Miami. There’s a certain way Mario wants it to look. And 3of the 4 playoff teams play that way. Even TCU is reliant on a balance attack and physicality up front. The talent in this roster needs to get better

You had me until here. I’m not sure what playoff teams you’re watching but the only team that plays a similar style to our current one is Michigan. Georgia doesn’t use a lot of tempo but their passing game looks nothing like Michigan’s. Ohio State is in another stratosphere in those regards. ****, they almost upset Georgia by pretty much running a scramble drill offense for four quarters. That’s the exact opposite of Gattis’ stilted and rigid passing scheme.

The only thing those teams have in common is that they’re balanced. Every really good offense has a good balance. You can still run the ball AND use passing concepts from this century. They’re not mutually exclusive.

Very good point. You can add all the talent in the world, but when you’re doing something so stupid like flooding 4 WRs to the same side of the field and crowding passing windows, you can’t succeed.

Good thing he’s not coming back.

OL "should be " improved, but where is our TEAM SPEED especially for our outside receivers ❓️Hopefully a couple of our new guys help us, but I'm not sure it's enough 🤔

OSU has future NFL WR 4 deep and stroud will probably go top 10. Their Pass game isn’t all that creative. But they have play makers. Their oline constantly gets a push in conference play. We don’t have any of that
UGA has 2 1st rd TEs..and again their run game is consistent based on execution up front..they are back to back national title games with a walk on QB..Michigan is running the same system they ran a year ago. Same ratio of pass/run game. They took time and building that roster.

TCU is the outlier here. Even then that team is balanced on O but rely on tempo.

All I’m saying is roster wise we are classes away. Our oline couldn’t create any separation. But our woes this szn has a lot to do with injuries, lack of talent and poor execution..end of the day that’s gunna be put on the OC. I think it’s crazy to say we are a OC away from representing anything of championship material tho

Agree to disagree.

He broke Michael's freshman record by a decent margin and averaged just under 3 yards per catch more. All while playing on a ****tier team by far. Yatil had a similar season to Michael. Why you even bring up Green pre-injuty, what else would we be talking about since that's all there was with Richards?

Unfortunately we'll never know for certain.
Lol....Ammon wasn't anywhere near Irvin in regards to talent...

Oh, I agree. We’re nowhere near championship talented. But we have way more than 5-7 talent. That’s my big gripe. You want to run an offense like Georgia or even Michigan, fine but at least get the horses to do it first. Don’t try to run that system with a weak o line and complain you don’t get the results you wanted. There was no excuse to lose seven games and get BLOWN OUT so many times this year. We weren’t even competitive against mediocre ACC teams.

We might not have championship level talent but if we want to keep Gattis around, we’re going to be a perpetual nine win team at best. I don’t want to be the new Texas A&M with top ranked classes that goes 8-4 every year.

Not getting hopes up. Still expecting we go 50-50 w Cristobal.

2024 is a different story.

I pray we bring in a OC that also coaches QBs.

Love TVD, but he has got to stop focusing on one WR.

Once he works on that, I think we have enough talent to have a pretty good year in the ACC.
This. He needs to learn the nuances of playing QB, like manipulating the coverage with his eyes and head movement.

1 read QB, lol. You clowns are not bright. look that highlight film the ACC put out on him, plenty of times he is reading more than 1 receiver. In most play calls the reads are based on reading a defender and the routes are high-low or middle of the field crosses where the head does not need to move. Last I check I can move my eyes without moving my head much.

CUT THE BULL CRAP WITH THIS. If he sucked we would not have done what he did in 2021.
You do know they only put the good plays on highlight film, right?

I expect a 4-8 or at best a 6-6 season and it has nothing to do with TVD. The offensive scheme is for cr@p and as long as it stays the same it will remain cr@p. My only hope is we can dominate the running game and have a good defense for us to see a big improvement. You can have Jerry Rice and Randy Moss out there and we will still a repeat of the same boring offense that does not throw the ball deep or 10-15 yards plus. Also can't forget the slow a55 tempo that gives the defense plenty of time to make subs and adjust to what the offense has on the field.
I got us at 7 wins but I’m with you
