But, what if TVD really DOES use this opportunity...?

With the OL that Mario is building and putting in front of TVD, what kind of year could he have if he really applies himself and puts in the extra time with Colbie, X, Ladson, Aroyo and George?

I know, I know, we don't have an OC worth a spit. But, what if he has time to throw and the guys he's throwing to have their timing down with him?

I know I'm only supposed to expect the worst on CIS or I'm a sucker, but seriously, what if TVD applies himself and doesn't get injured? 2023' could be that next step that Mario always takes in his 2nd season.

OK, let it fly...

My concern with Colbie, X, Ladson, Arroyo, George - zero explosion or deep threat here. No speed to take the top off a defense or a WR screen 70 yards by making a guy or two miss.

Said it all last year - this offense (regardless of OC/playcalling) desperately and i mean desperately needs a Jeff Thomas, Stacy Coley, Travis Benjamin type. Not even AR15. Just someone with speed/wiggle.

TVD benefitted greatly by having an outstanding contested ball catcher in Rambo. That dude was slick and would push off and create space better than any receiver we have had in recent memory. We lack explosion and speed and TVD can rip the ball into tight windows but that leads to tipped balls and INTs. We need a WR or two who runs themself open and give TVD some easy pitch and catch throws.

He focused on one recriver largely because that's the amount of time he had. He had to worry on every single play, would the receivers get to their spot on all the slow *** long routes or would he get his head taken off because his line was less effective than turnstiles at blocking.

He's not without fault, but QB's are at their best when they're comfortable. This offense was anything but comfortable to a QB and the rest of the offense. We needed to scheme around our weakness, a soft OL, and we failed to do that. Receivers didn't help, they weren't creating space and couldn't be counted on by and large. The ground game was largely ineffective.

I won't judge a QB, at least not him and Garcia off of last year. I will admit that I don't see how Brown ever becomes a viable starter due to his lack of throwing ability.

Agree would love to have a Phillip Dorsett clone.

Don't let the mopes get to you. We're a good OC away from scaring CFB.

We need a WR coach, our WR technique is trash… as well as a scheme that fits personal
Not to be overly dramatic about it, and this is the kind of statement that will get me killed on CIS, but with the occasional WR who does his own work outside of Greentree, you can track our WR fundamentals erode as soon as Butch left. By 2003, you could really see it and then it's just not been solid ever since. Doesn't seem like rocket surgery. Seems correctable, but what do I know...?

Stop with that Thomas crap, he's left a few times and we're better for it

If by some miracle, the offensive line becomes one of the best in the nation next year, TVD’s numbers will still be pedestrian. The passing game is designed for game manager type quarterbacks. Very few throws to the outside. Everything is an underneath route for a slot receiver or a dump off to a back or tight end. Look at Michigan’s passing offenses under Gattis. Even in 2021, with the best line in the nation, Michigan’s quarterback only averaged around 220 yards per game and had 15 touchdown passes in 14 games.

TVD wasn’t the problem this year. That scheme was dog **** and didn’t fit any of our QB’s. Did he struggle and have some bad games absolutely but have to believe the year looks different with a scheme closer to what Lashlee ran.
Yeah, it's pretty tough to go 0-3 on QB's this year and not take a hard look at the system Gattis was running

Can Francis or Samson play QB?
