Everybody complains about Richt, bad playcalling, Diaz, DBs who can't turn their heads....fact is, we got ripped off by refs who ignore holding and pass interferences
We were playing against Wisconsin AND the refs.
Fair officiating maybe win, or at least it's closer.
Stop beating up on our team and its coaches.
Now this is an all timer. I'm so glad I found it before it tumbled from view off the first page.
Talk about parody. We're told not to whine, and then the theme of the thread is we were ripped off by the referees.
Hilarious. That is the ultimate whine, the always-dependable crutch.
Soft defenses are defined by running plays rambling up the gut and soft fans are defined by how frequently they complain about officiating.
Your response makes even less sense the more I read it.
"Soft defenses are defined by running plays rambling up the gut..."
What does that mean? It makes no sense. Absolutely none. Are you meaning to suggest UM's defense was soft? When we held Wisconsin substantially below their season AVG? Please explain.
So, complaining about officiating defines a "soft" fan? As far as I remember, fans here very seldom complain about the officiating when, in fact, it's been a problem all season long. It wasn't until this game that it was decisive. It didn't cost us a close game against Clemson and it was pretty clear that poor QB play was the overriding factor against Pitt. Despite very mediocre QB play against Wisconsin, we were still in the game and dould have won but for failure to call critical penalties. There were multiple critical factors in our loss: poor QB play, poor OL line, poor DB play and bad non-calls. Eliminate any one or two and it might have made a difference.
I call people out for whining when they incessantly complain about the coach and the players when despite their less than stellar play, we could have won but for getting screwed by the refs. Instead of complaining all the time about Richt and Rosier and the others, who have all coached or played their hearts out for us, lets complain for once about the people who are biased and ***** us, like the officials.
I'm tired of self-punishment. We can work about fixing our own shortcomings, some of which will take more top-level recruiting and another year or so to fix, and complain about those who are not on our side and display ill-will and bias. lI'm disgusted about officials all season long who ignore obvious penalties. Maybe Trent Harris would have had 20 sacks this year if all the holding this guy gets had been called. The refs must be retreads from Comey's FBI they're so biased and derelict in performing their duties.
There should be an independent ethical board for officials. Maybe good officiating wouldn't have saved us against Clemson, but i twould have probably turned around the game against Wisconsin.
So I guess Richt is soft and a whiner for finally losing his cool and going off on the refs. It was long overdue.
Jimmy Johnson used to work the officials from the sideline. He would grab his shirt and pull on it so that it was obvious to the officials he was riding them for not calling it. I took a camera to the 1988 Michigan game, where I remember him doing it the most, and when I got home and developed the pictures (1988-pre-digital camera era) I was shocked to see Michigan blockers in our secondary tackling LBs and DBs around the knees. I never noticed this stuff while sitting in the stands watching the game.
I see all this poison directed at Richt, Rosier, and so forth, people who came to the U, players who bled on Greentree, people who cast their lot with UM and work their butt off, and nobody complains about when we get screwed by people who don't like us and wish us ill, and that probably includes some officials.
