Building out ACC Network could cost each school $5-7M

I guess my biggest question would be how those exorbitant costs are justified from a ROI perspective when millions of people are cutting the cord. It seems like ESPN doled out lavish deals during the flush years and now has to pay the piper.

I wonder if having more schools in metropolitan areas and being primarily on the East Coast would benefit the ACC network versus the SEC who's schools are primarily in smaller towns.

What's wrong with the tent they used to record Canes Camp Report videos in? If it was good enough for Chip it's good enough for the ACC.

Building ACC Network infrastructure could cost each school $5-7 million

Would a professional facility like ours already meet these requirements?

It wouldn't shock me if a lot of these schools, that have strong journalism/communication departments upgraded on campus stuff, and looked at it as a public/private partnership type of deal. You have the on-campus facilities for the ACC Network, and you get to use it for educational purposes, killing two birds with one stone.

That's a ****** direction to go in.

People are disconnecting from mainstream providers and moving to smaller, cheaper, and customized channel lineups.

That SEC Network is killing ESPN (along w/ the MNF content)

Cable channels closing all over the place, sports channels losing subs, and we are starting a linear network. Typical ACC...10 years too late.

+1

There is also a related issue. When the Longhorn Network deal expires Texas may well be looking for a new conference. That may change several things.

I believe we already have the capability of hosting our own broadcasts through ESPN3

We did it for baseball all season long, and I believe we do it on our own for basketball as well

We also just built a studio inside the athletic center

Oh Crap. That mean our stupid administration will spend a fortune on this instead of coaching staff. IF it was a good idea, they would spend a penny.

I would guess whatever we have left to do is minor. We already stream almost all of our Olympic Sports and as was mentioned we built a new studio.

I can see where some ACC schools have a lot of work to do. The quality Va Tech and Ga Tech among others produce sucks at times. BC doesn't do any streaming at all.

Boston College is literally at the bottom of every single sport in the conference. If I was them, I wouldn't stream either.

ACC is too late to that network party. They're failing left and right and hemorrhaging sponjulix. Why not try to get on the next wave and hop in with Netflix or Amazon instead of messing with this antiquated model?

BC is a joke. I graduated from the school and live in Boston.
The administration. Does not care about sports, just collecting the checks. They are lucky the hockey team is a powerhouse. Due to title 9 they don't have a lax team and the women's team went to the national final. Makes zero sense. Football and hoop are a joke. Thankfully I am a Canes fan and knew at some point the ship would right itself on saturdays.

That would be the smart option.

Seems bat **** crazy to sink any money into any project that requires a cable subscription. It is a near guaranteed losing venture. There are now more netflix subscribers than cable subscribers, and that is not going to turn around any time soon.

FIFY, Chise.
Any time there's a bunch of mens in tight, sometimes transparent, pants, running around roughing each other up and being aggressive it's Pornhub to me.
