2028 Brysen Wright WR Mandarin

Speaking of RB we will NEED that next top RB in 2028. Again more reason to not get into an insane bidding war for Wright. Need to allocate there. Will also NEED a DT. I see more reasons not less that it's likely resources are allocated elsewhere.

I'm not saying don't try, and see what the bid in the end is. I just think we get outbid.
That Xander kid about to shatter records here

I think there are 2 issues with your analysis.

First you are operating as if you know our budget, you likely do not. Obviously there is a budget but saying I think we get outbid is your opinion, more than welcome to it, but without knowing our budget compared to others I think it is hard to jump to this conclusion.

Second, you keep bringing up MJC the RB from this year. I agree it looks as if he was #1 on our board for RB, but he is also the 5th ranked back in this class and 78 overall. If instead of MJC this was Adrien Peterson? We likely pony up whatever.

We will see how Wright progresses, he has two more years of ball, but if he shows he may be in that Smith, Julio Jones tier we are without a doubt finding the funds specifically earmarked for him. I think certain guys get put in their own class. I do think we made another run at JJ, if he came I doubt it changes a single portal guy we got on our roster meaning the funds are there for certain players.
Doesn't seem very controversial to say we won't sign #1, #2, and #3 on the composite.

That's ok, we don't have to agree. Just making conversation.
I try to support my opinions with 3 decades of successful coaching and 4 decades of watching. Plus, what I said the premier positions are align with Mario and what he has displayed are his top priorities, so that is what will be the blueprint regardless of what you and I want.
Hopefully we will both be satisfied next year when we lock up Wright AND Sears, along with 4-5 more top 75 players for 2028.
I'm just honored you responded to my post without too much hate or any name calling. Lol
In the nfl the average starting WR has a cap hit of like $26M vs CBs being at like $19M.

Top 10 WRs make $30-$40M

Top 10 CBs make $20-$30M

Pretty big difference. Now maybe you can say CFB CBS are more valuable than NFL and vice versa for WRs? Eh…. I can maybe get behind the truly elite at each being that way CFB bs nfl… but the elite wr is still likely more valuable than elite cb.

However maybe if you wanted to say the ROI given the CB is certainly gunna be cheaper… maybe we are getting somewhere…

I dont believe the idea that averaging out the total compensation of 6 roster spots indicates the overall value of a position. 1st round picks, starter salary and trade compensation are much more indicative of value. 5th and 6th WRs are special teams players typically making near the minimum. It dilutes the information. Leonard Moore and Jeremiah Smith have been the best at their respective positions for 2 years and their is no world a GM drafts Moore ahead of Smith. When those two players are eligible for extensions Smith will make 10-15 mil more per year on average if they both are all pro level players. Their are multiple teams with more than one receiver making excess of 30 million. How many teams have corners valued that high?
I agree, but the draft position point maybe isn’t best cause that’s also factoring in draft need by the team and how that affects who they pick. They don’t just always pick the better value or even better objective player.

Like Moore is gunna be drafted ahead of many WRs that are viewed very highly and likely end up signing larger $ extensions than Moore will end up getting after 5yr…. I think Moore is 100% gunna be a top 10 if not top 5 pick. But like Cam Coleman is probably making 1.5x-2x more than Moore at Texas than Moore is at ND, and they’re currently projected to be drafted 6/7

Now Moore at 1/2 the cost of Coleman? I’m probably taking Moore. But he’s not more valuable.

This is literally all I am saying. No Wright is NOT the most important recruit in years. Cantwell was. Jacobs is. Bryant was.

This dude is a symbolic player in Florida, he breaks the wr money mold cause of where he is at and what he is doing. These are the special types that get any amount of money from the hometown team. Same like we did for JS, you have to pay because of the narrative the talent and what it means

Yeah, I was looking at it more from a CFB perspective and just believe an elite DB is more valuable than an elite WR. Everyone here is quoting me salaries of NFL players and to be honest, I don't really watch much NFL anymore and just really love the college game much more for a variety of reasons. You might be right and its different in the current NFL.
I don't see why we can't get both of them and don't feel the need to have to choose. The conversation kind of drifted to allocating NIL and making a choice, so if gun to head I would choose Sears over Wright. But hoping Mario can land both and we all will be happy.

If we value both we will try and get both, which we will.

I like that big mfer a lot

How about we just trust Mario and staff? I think they know a little bit more about recruiting, football, team needs, and their NIL fund distribution than any of us. No need to pocket watch. Just enjoy the process.
That's funny

I know you know this, but that literally goes against everything we stand for here

If we lost him its just a cope for those not being able to take the L that someone out recruited Mario thats all. Something for those type a fans to fall back on in case we dont get him, they cant think of someone choosing another HC over Mario. Thats all that is
Or I can see his dad’s bias as an FSU fan playing a factor.

I would do u speakable things if we got him. Also don’t think we would be in this as much if we didn’t have mali.

No, and that is an entirely different statement, that is simply playing the odds it doesnt happen. But lets say that these current rising juniors change and instead of 1, 2, and 3 it is 1, 7, and 9, would that change your position?

Unless they had a miracle season this year and won the ACC and made a trip to the postseason, I dont think much will sway them that way. I know the fear is that they will fire Mike and hire Hartline to try to draw him, but I would be shocked if FSU would risk hiring a HC with one year of experience.
Based on talking to someone up at Mandarin HS close to the situation, I don't think Brysen wants much to do with the FSU program despite what his father likes as a fan. As reported everywhere else, it's a two-horse race and pretty even at this point.
I know many here don't like to hear it, but kids value OSU and their track record of putting kids in the pros at that position. I think that stuff is overrated as if a school is consistently getting 5-star kids to commit to them, then of course they will put guys in the NFL at that spot regardless of who the WR coach is. Players like Harrison JR, Smith, etc are already so gifted physically that as long as they work hard at the colligate level, they will see a first round selection just based on their traits. It will take a while for Miami to be viewed that way, Mali, Lennear and possibly Moore can change that in the next few years.

Not really. Sears and Wright likely to stay in the top 3. It's very likely we match anything for Sears. I just don't see how it's controversial to say we are unlikely to get into this huge bidding war with both. This could be wrong and maybe I should be wearing my rose colored glasses. Maybe we hit oil in Coral Gables lol. I will repeat, in my opinion Sears would be of more importance than Wright. Need to turn the tide of 5* Miami players going elsewhere. All we got right now is No Cut. Huge shout out to him.

You could be right on that as sometimes fandom gets the better of people and their judgment.
We have some posters on here that think it's okay to laugh or mock other teams' fans or players that have a disease or some other tragic life situation with the justification that they are the "enemy". So, he could be one of those petty ones that would persuade his son away from the Canes because of that.
Sometimes a son will root for a team just to rival their father in a friendly back and forth so let's hope that's the case here. Lol
