Bryce Fitzgerald is not slow

Wild that 10.68 is only good enough for NINTH in a high school track meet. I'd like to return my kids...I think I got a defective model.
Not a regular track meet, it’s the Florida relays you have all the fastest kids from different classes, maybe even some out of state kids running as well.

So kid has pretty good track speed, but nothing special.

The point of this thread was to respond to the fact that his official personal best last year in track was a 11.63, which caused the CIS world to freak out that he was too slow. 10.68 and a 10.83 official times are 0.8-1 second faster and put his speed concerns to rest.

Kid has all the moves and is a high quality football player. His lack of physicality is the only remaining question mark, but it is a big one.

The physicality is a real knock.

If he improves his physicality to an adequate level, he will be one of the top players in this class. If he doesn’t, it will be hard to keep him on the field.
If he doesn't then move him to WR.

He did get the memo the game is "tackle" football?

Please tell me this was mentioned during orientation at least.

You know it's not all about speed. Does he have wiggle? Vision?

Remember we said the same about Chris Johnson.
He has Wiggle & vision + Length & Ball Skills makes too Much Sense.
Really what is he doing on Kick off /Punt? He is receiving & running with the ball.

I think he is a soft ball player that isn’t slow, lol. Not to be a fence straddler but you can be soft and be a good ball player…more so at certain positions but it has happened plenty. Do you want a team full of them? Of course not, but again … it happens.

I don’t think he plays much if at all in 2025, especially if he is starting at CB, but intrigued if Etheridge can get anything out of him. He is an extremely smooth athlete at 6’+ and has the long speed to match. If I knew he was going to be forced into action next year then this would be a bigger deal, but he is way behind the 8 ball in the pecking order at that spot.

Until we turn it around on the field when it matters, throw all the bodies at DB as possible. If he can’t cut it, he will be gone in 2 years, simple as that 🤷🏾‍♂️.
Calling him “Soft “May be going too Far,Playing Football,Catching a Ball on returns with 11 guys running Towards you with Bad intentions & getting hit Is not soft.
He may not like Tackling due to bieng 170 -175lbs not Strong enough to put heavier players on the Ground..
This reminds me of Alvin Harper, or Flipper Anderson. Guys who were incredible at taking the top off a defense, weren't meant to be #1 receivers, but were extremely dangerous. They didn't really have a complete route tree (especially Harper, who was good at the vertical stuff, but not much else).

But their mere threat alongside other recievers made them valuable. I can see Fitzgerald being that kinda guy
Alvin Harper was very Good a Tennessee & Was the perfect Complement To Micheal Irving for years with his home run threat.

Respectfully D$, I question this analysis and he’s why:

How is it that this young man has been able to start at one of the premier football programs in South Florida? The way it’s being spoken about, it’s like the kid literally is afraid to tackle, and I simply find that hard to believe with him being a Top 200 talent in the country who also plays for a premier football program in the Sunshine State.

If this young man is “afraid” to tackle, that’s not something that can be taught - so if he’s ultimately successful at UM/NFL etc, the entire rhetoric of his physicality being in question would’ve been completely wrong.

* Freshman S Bryce Fitzgerald was very impressive on third down packages (9 of them he came in for). Fitzgerald's grades were: Defensive Grade (74.2), Tackling Grade (76.2), and Pass Coverage Grade (75.8).

Obviously very small sample size but I have my eyes on that single high S spot with him and Poyser. I need to see more of both of them, but Poyser didn’t impress me Sunday night. USF will be a good test and I expect them both to play quite a bit against that hurry up high volume passing attack.

Can someone correct me if I’m wrong, I was sitting away from where nd’s offense was operating at the time but did he make a tackle on love who tried one of his 30 hurdles?

Same, Poyser was struggling a bit. Should be an interesting battle as the season goes.
