Bruce suspended for Saturday

I'm still confused as to why the school (or Richt) feels the need to suspend a player for something stupid he did in high school and was already punished for?

Yeah, he posted a picture of him holding a gun to some older douche encroaching on his former squeeze, but so what?

How are they so sure the gun was even real? This seems silly.

I think Bryan Pata and Sean Taylor would agree with Richt. There's no place for UM commits or players to be flashing guns, period.
Stop it bruh, you're conflating the issue when you bring up Pata & Taylor, those incidents have nothing to do with Bruce.

All the incidents relate to the perception of miami. You still hear the echoes from parents, media, and kids referencing miami as dangerous and "wanting to get out". Guns don't fit the paradise vibe. At the end of the day hes probably missing out on 10 snaps...its not that severe of a punishment.

Redshirt his little ***. From all accounts his route running needs major work.

Coley, Njoku, Herndon, Berrios, Harris, Richards, Lewis...where does he fit?

Does anybody think he'd be suspended if they were actually playing a competent opponent this week? Lot of crying about nothing.

Didn't somebody post he was reshirting anyway? or is my sarcasm meter broken? If he's shirting anyway what does it matter if he's suspended.. the **** is going on?

Right said the other day there won't be many if any redshirts this year. With the injury to Cager and Coley in a little bit of limbo, highly unlikely any receiver will be redshirted.

Will Sam have Rick's back when Rick needs Sam? Rick didn't have his. Smh at this bullseet.

I hope Rick doesn't suspend Jamal Carter for acting like he was shooting an AK47 in that hot shirtless pic someone posted here the other day.

I'm starting to wonder if they're suspending Willis for pushing Jameis when he ran out of bounds two years ago.

From whose accounts? That's the first I've heard of that. I've read where he's "behind", but he would be, as he just got here in June.

He's "behind" because he catches TDs in practice on improvised routes. I'll take the TDs. Thanks.

I was going to post the same thing. It doesn't make any sense. This is one reason we keep losing kids to F$U. There's no way in **** Jimbo suspends Bruce. He probably asks him how well it shoots instead. I'm not saying it's right but kids and parents read about the Grace situation and this with Bruce and they compare it to how Fisher protects his players and we lose out as a result. We are always going to be thugs and criminals in the eyes of the media so why the **** are we always trying to make our guys choirboys the last decade?

I don't think it matters if the gun was real or not, kids have to be smarter about the perception of violence on social media. Especially when your representing your university or one you will be representing. To use how Dumbo "protects" kids is ludicrous. Remember this is Miami, we're on a shorter leash than every other university out there. The backlash from the media would be horrendous if we had a Rapist Winston type incident. Kids have to have responsibility and accountability, both of which seem very foreign to today's youth. Bottom line is it's FAMU, if we need Bruce for this one we're in serious trouble for the rest on the season.

Are we the only school that suspends kids for **** they did in high school?

Here's the rub...and Im not agreeing/disagreeing with the suspension decision...BUT...

According to the "public" timeline of events, Bruce's actions were after he formally became a Prospective Student Athlete (PSA*)...so yes, he was still in HS, but as a PSA, in agreement that he was covered by NCAA and Miami's team rules.

Again...agree/disagree...but thats how the PSA status works.

Thematically, its no different than the NCAA by law experts in this forum who have taken the "rules are rules" position re: AQM, Grace, and Young.

*PSA status us achieved when an LOI is received by the institution, submitted to the conference, submitted to NCAA, and then accepted by NCAA (its ~5-10 business day process after football's NSD)

This is what I was alluding to. I'm sure his route running is good enough when he runs the correct routes.

If he does play this season I would hope they let him return punts and/or kickoffs.

He fits when nagging injuries like turf toe, hamstring, and shoulder injuries linger and keep people out a few games.

dude, your common sense and straight legal analysis is going to get you killed on this board. there's no room for either here. i suppose you dont know that, aside from a handful of reasonable, intelligent and well-adjusted members, this site is overwhelmed by mongrels and maladjusted yutes. although they add lots of flavor, they add little to no constructive commentary.

carry on and keep on . . .

Over 162 games even tough guys get strains, sore arms, muscle pulls.

Brother RSA...

I do enjoy feeling like Hernan Cortes making first contact with the indigenous peoples.

Well minus the whole culture crushing disease and death thing...

I do have standards.

um, i like the reference to Cort*s. in 1518 when he told Vel*zquez to eat crow and went to explore Mayan M*xico anyways, Cort*s scuttled his boats upon arriving, signaling there was no return to Cuba. either we conquer or we die. #TrueSavage It was the beginning of the conquest of an important part of North America.

UM finds itself at the same intersection and with Richt we are moving forward (not a step backwards) . . . Go Canes!

they better tighten **** up at UM with these last minutes annoucements the year we open with LSU,

How will fans getting last minute announcements affect the game?

maybe Bruce was known before, but the ones from Saturday no-one did apparently, and then the players have to answer questions about it 2 days leading into a game, just announce it not game week

Oh boy. The reason suspensions are always announced last minute like that is for strategic purposes. That way the other team has to account for them in the game plan regardless of the fact they won't play. Hence wasting time in practice on irrelevant matters.
