Come on man, to try and put the blame on coach searels for the play of Jahir jones, mahoney and brown is equivalent to blaming coach richt for rosier being on the team, they coached who they were left with. Once someone makes the statement of "that's on coach searels for not bringing in enuff o-line talent and developing them" they just lost credibility. First, coach searels has done a good job with gauthier, he started him over weak linder, scaife a True freshman is coming along and navaughn didnt regress he just changed positions and now he's back at his natural spot. With o-linemen you normally have to start recruiting them early on. The 2016 class was a salvage class, we were only able to get about 1 or 2 o-linemen who are not on the roster, the 2017 class we got about 5 guys, headlined by donaldson and herbert, than gaynor, the throw ins were hillery and dykstra, that was decent as far as numbers go, than last year, campbell, scaife and reed.
Anybody that knows anything about football, it normally takes about 2 to 3 years for most o-linemen to develop, which is why next year is the year you'll truly see if coach searels has real value cause almost all of them will be his guys. Im not so sure coach richt will fire coach searel, unless he's looking at things from a recruiting standpoint, but let's be honest, its not like o-line recruits were beating down the door to get here prior to coach richt getting here, and with the way things have looked this year, their cautious now. But last season gave us the momentum to get guys commitments like guak & tarquin with neal giving us a strong look.
I think the biggest problem we have with recruiting o-linemen is we are going for the high end targets that only want to come to a program that's humming. Funny thing is, alot of those recruits who are loojing at an Auburn, their record and offense hasnt been that much better than ours. Nor are their o-lines, in fact statistically we got auburn beat and are ranked higher than them and alot of teams, and our staff hasnt even been here a full 3yrs yet. Next year, all coach richt has got to do is keep this thing together, im sure he's learned alot in the short time he's been here, including this coaching staff. But we definitely need to pull in at least 3 to 4 quality o-linemen this year. I'll say this boulware is decent, but he's to inconsistent, hayden has actually been out playing him and sometimes even Jahir has been as well.
I'm almost certain coach richt is not going to let some b.o.t.'s cry babies tell him who to hire this offseason, this is the staff he put together and it means more to coach richt to stick together at this point than to listen to people who know nothing about coaching. The 2 b.o.t.'s crybabies are probably the same ones who signed off on bringing the penn disgrace morons here and low balled shannon, and may have even been around helping to low ball butch, so who cares what they crying about, coach richt knows whether its a talent issue or a coaching issue. And like i said earlier, blaming coach searels for the o-line is like blaming coach richt for rosier being here, they both got stuck with the guys that were on the roster, and they both have upgraded their guys, next year you will see.
