Brian Kelly...Notre Dame Overhaul after 4-8 season

Even with all those changes. Didn't we beat that *** last year with this same staff and Rosier?

We did. But ND is 11-1 since that game, we're 6-7 (including wins against Savannah State and FIU). I'm not sure we get to beat our chests over that one any more.

Yeah you're right but Dugan's can't give Cager that it factor some kids have it some don't. The release part you could make an agrument there.
I'm not saying he has to be Randy Moss, he just has to catch the ball with his hands. There's no point in having a 6'5" receiver if he has to body catch everything.

Kelly made the changes following the 2016 season. Not last off season. It seems to have paid dividends though. They went from terrible in 2016 to good in 2017 to playoff team in 2018.

Find where you are weak at and address it.
Then hire the smartest people. Take responsibility for the job you were given.
You weren’t hired to be loyal to a coach or a player.
You were hired to win.
He cleaned house early in the offseason I believe.

Yeah it also bugs me that he doesnt come back to the ball. We do have a bunch of guys catching with their body

I agree, I actually think our SC needs to be looked at as well and bring in someone with real P5 experience. I really don't think all these crazy injuries are coincidence. Also we look slow and weak. SC, ST, OL, RB need overhaul. Dugan's the only one who should be retained on the offensive side. Downgrade Richt Jr to analyst or support staff (give him part of your paycheck papa), bye to Searles, bye to Brown, bye to Patke. **** we only need 1 DB coach as well so choose. Get a real OC/QB coach, OL, RB, and a wild card ST coach or find a coach who's done both like RB/ST. That needs to be our overhaul
Downgrade Richt Jr to janitor

I Hate ND like poison....But Kelly is 100× the Coach that Mork is....Kelly MADE the necessary changes...while Mork stands on the sidelines like a Totem Pole....

Kelly also folded last year and got pushed in by a Canes team that lost to Pitt lol. Those changes were made before last season not after the blowout

Good coaches make honest evaluations of themselves and programs and make necessary changes. Kelly at ND is a good example. He isn't the only one though. Gary Patterson also had to reevaluate the way he did things. When TCU first joined the Big 12 they had a couple of dismal seasons after previously dominating the WAC & MWC.

Patterson used to run an archaic offense built on the power run. When he realized that wouldn't work in the Big 12 he completed overhauled his offensive staff. He brought in Sonny Cumbie and Doug Meachum to install a modern spread offense. That season they went from 4-8 the previous year to 12-1 with their new, upgraded offense.

If Richt was a good coach he'd realize what he currently is doing isn't working and make the necessary changes. We need to hope he's more open minded like Kelly or Patterson and not a stubborn fool unwilling to make the necessary changes.

The changes he made took them from 4-8 in 2016 to 10-3 in 2017. The point is he was willing to make the necessary staff changes to improve their program. And now, he's squarely in the playoff picture for the second year in a row.

Yeah forgot about ole money bags

I found this pic of Harley heading over to meet with Brevin before he was about to go on his Bama OV.

Im not saying they aren't.
I think Kelly is a good coach. But to say he's much better than Richt, who took him to the shed last year, is asinine. Richt didn't have a clear need for change after last year, we all thought we just needed a better QB to beat Wisconsin and Pitt and finish 13-1 instead of a 3 game losing streak. Everyone knows now that much bigger things, likely Richt himself, is holding the offense back. So if he doesn't make any changes between now and the first snap of 2019. Then we can talk about how much better Kelly is for making an obvious change when Richt didn't.

BVG was trash in 2015, and Kelly still didn't fire him until he continued to prove his trashyness wasnt a fluke 4 games into the 2016 season.
Outside of Hartley with special teams...we didn't know for sure if personnel or coaches were holding some positions back.
