Brian Kelly...Notre Dame Overhaul after 4-8 season

Sounds alot like Miami...only problem we have is Kelly was worried about his job security...Richt not so much....I hate Kelly but the guy had the gonads to make some significant changes:

Summary:

Kelly blames himself for mental toughness, physical conditioning and accountability
Overhauls staff - fires DC, OC, ST & SC
Talks to all 93 players on what needs to be fixed
Kelly gives up day to day running of the offense and offensive staff - becomes CEO of program

I agree, I actually think our SC needs to be looked at as well and bring in someone with real P5 experience. I really don't think all these crazy injuries are coincidence. Also we look slow and weak. SC, ST, OL, RB need overhaul. Dugan's the only one who should be retained on the offensive side. Downgrade Richt Jr to analyst or support staff (give him part of your paycheck papa), bye to Searles, bye to Brown, bye to Patke. **** we only need 1 DB coach as well so choose. Get a real OC/QB coach, OL, RB, and a wild card ST coach or find a coach who's done both like RB/ST. That needs to be our overhaul
 
I'm sure someone here will tell you that no coach who's ever overhauled his staff has ever won anything. Because Coker did it one time and it didn't pan out.

I would keep Hartley as TE coach. What do you think?

I'm curious as to why Dugans gets a pass here from everybody. He's coached Cager for three years and that dude still can't catch a pass with his hands. None of the receivers could get a release against DUKE press coverage. They're still good for three drops a game, minimum. I get it, the receivers put in effort to block downfield. Maybe Dugans should be the offensive line coach since his receivers aren't getting any better.
 
This was also what, 3 years after Kelly coached in the national championship??

I Hate ND like poison....But Kelly is 100× the Coach that Mork is....Kelly MADE the necessary changes...while Mork stands on the sidelines like a Totem Pole....

Yeah you're right but Dugan's can't give Cager that it factor some kids have it some don't. The release part you could make an agrument there.
 
I think the major difference in the two situations is that ND has a competent, well-respected -- and powerful -- AD in Jack Swarbrick.

Blake James doesn't hold the power in the athletic department that Swarbrick does in South Bend. In the case of Kelly after the 2016 season, Swarbrick MADE Kelly make the chances that were implemented; I have no faith that Blake James would be able to wield the same stick to Richt's carrot.

Retarded??....He might end up in the Playoff.....After getting Waxed by us 12months ago.....Seems like some coaches know when to make smart decisions....

Pretty sure MizCane is saying that we need to see how this offseason plays out before making any final determinations on Richt. If he makes the changes we all know need to be made, there may be hope for the future. Based on history, we know that Richt doesn't make changes quickly but even he can't be dumb enough to see the glaring deficiencies on the offensive side of the ball.
 
Key points are Kelly knew a repeat down season would be unemployment (fat buyout notwithstanding), and ND has a strong AD who wants to win.

Richt has job security, and Blake James is not interested being a perennial ACC Champ/CFP contenders. Miami could be a 8-win team with a Coastal title every three years and the BOT would be happy.

Even with all those changes. Didn't we beat that *** last year with this same staff and Rosier?
 
I feel like most of you are selling your self short with some of these coaches. Yeah some of them are good but you know there is room for more improvement from all the coaches. You know we could hire coaches that are better than the fan favorites.

Overrating recruiters here.

Hartley is a **** good recruiter, but if Miami is winning, it takes care of itself. We can always find ace recruiters.

His utter ineptitude at coaching special teams should get his *** fired.

My comment was in reference to you saying Richt isn't doing anything. Wait and see what he does. Kelly wasn't able to do anything until after the season. Lets see if Richt does.
