Couple thoughts.

1. @cway313 didn’t you tell me I was crazy when I said Sorsby wouldn’t be playing next season in the NFL? Admittedly I expected no team to draft a degenerate gambler as opposed to the NFL not allowing him to be drafted.

2. Why would Sorsby’s lawyers not provide the “supporting documentation”? Kessler is an experienced litigator in the sports world so I find it hard to believe that he completely missed out on supporting documentation. Something about this doesn’t make sense.

The NFL is under no obligation to hold a Supplemental Draft to allow someone special privileges. What “documentation” could his lawyer possible provide that would hold water? So called proof that he actually enrolled in a counseling class (?) or that the NFL isn’t “allowing” him to be drafted (i.e. discrimination?)....just naming weak arguments here. And, who’s willing to foot the legal bills based on Sorsby’s track record? Kessler probably looking for a way out.

Well, it makes perfect sense.

Just not for the argument that would support Sorsbys case.

I don’t know what documents are missing. I was just reacting to the NFL statement that Sorsby’s camp failed to provide any “supporting documentation”. It just seems odd considering that they just won a TRO which in which they most definitely would have had reams of documentation.

Well there you have it- the judge gave an extremely lazy four page order. Probably smart not to use that. It’s obvious to me that this judge was just paid off. The funny thing is if they would have just let Kessler do his job instead of relying on Cody Campbell to pay everyone off they might be in a better place. They had a legit argument.

If Sorsby isn’t drafted, is he not then a free agent who can sign with any team?

At this point what makes him any different from some guy on the street?

Please understand @hoops156 I agree with your position. I’m more asking from a hypothetical standpoint. Let’s say he was like the guy who played for the Eagles in the 70’s when Vermeil was their coach and the Eagles literally held an open free agent tryout. There was a movie about him in which Mark Wahlberg played the guy.

Sorsby can’t “just try out” because the NFL’s supplemental draft — the only official route for players like him — was canceled due to timing, lack of due diligence, and the league’s stance on his conduct. His only path forward is through the regular draft in 2027 or other leagues - per google.

His attorney has said they'll continue to pursue this with the NFL Players Association, but it's unclear how that would work, since a player isn't even in the NFLPA until he enters the league. Sorsby and his team could continue to pursue legal action that forces the NFL to accept his petition and allow him to play this season, but since we're only about three weeks away from the latest possible date for a supplemental draft, it's unlikely a court could force the league to hold one.

If Sorsby were to take this to court and succeed, it's theoretically possible he could be declared an unrestricted free agent and could sign with any team prior to the start of the season. But that feels farfetched, and even if so, the league could decide to suspend him. Sorsby will be eligible for the 2027 draft next April, and the league's letter to him encourages him to prepare for possible entry to the NFL via that avenue - per ESPN

Considering how short people's memories are, they might wait a couple of years then bring him on a practice squad or some ****. But I agree, the NFL would be dumb to bring on a documented gambler.
