Maybe because his agent and Texas Tech and their media minions won't just shut up and try and let this die down. They act like they are so surprised that being the top dog in the Big 12 isn't enough cover to pull the **** they tried too.

The NFL once suspended someone for four games because someone was "more likely than not generally aware of deflated footballs", with a physics law being present right in front of their face confirming the measurements in the footballs via simple math.
As much as I like the tinfoil hat, the NFL doesn't give a **** about names. Arch Manning will never be in this situation, because his father and his brothers would belt the stupidity out of him and they protected him from basically any sort of outside influence.

The road most traveled is admit your issue...step away from football...put together a minor track record of positive work...maybe try and play elsewhere at a lower level and earn some trust back and get a shot. You know youve been busted.
Instead...he gambled that a temper tantrum, with a lil weaponization of lawfare and therapy language would enable him to avoid Tiny and Knuckles from collecting on this debt owed to society.

Not necessarily
Unions may have collectively-bargained for some provisions that impact job APPLICANTS. Thus, it MIGHT be argued that if the NFL is "selectively" applying rules to prevent an individual from "applying for" a job in football, that the NFLPA just might be the correct organization to assert itself so that the player COULD apply for (and possibly get a job with) an NFL team.
Thus allowing Sorsby to become a player and NFLPA member.
It's a bit attenuated, but I believe that's the argument being made. Trying to remember **** from my Labor Law class 30 years ago.

Got it… makes sense. So the other side is they let him in the draft and no one selects him and he’s out. As long as they don’t come together (by owners or leagues direction) and say no one can/should select him then that would be collusion?

I don't think Sorsby wants to sue the NFLPA, he just wants the NFLPA to help assert his rights as a job applicant.
If the NFL won't hold the Supplemental Draft this year, he is effectively barred from seeking employment.
He applied 3 days before the deadline. SHOULD go in favor of Sorsby.
He did not send in supporting documentation. MIGHT go in favor of the NFL.
Lawsuit recently dropped. Not sure the impact of this.
In short, what I think the NFL is saying is that they have a process of doing the Supplmental that should be based on some extenuating circumstances that prevented a person from being in the "normal" draft. It's clear that the announcement of gambling rehab, and the NCAA's decision to remove Sorsby's eligibility to play, took place after the NFL draft, but there still must be NFL "approval" of applicants to enter the Supplemental. How formal or informal those requirements are, I don't know.
