once the story went public, everyone assumed anyone with a sense would have ended his college career and that would have been it. this guy was still gambling as the starting QB at cincy and at TTU. he claims he never bet on games he played in but he also said he never bet against his team while at indiana which he conveniently forgot that he did

I just can't be outraged about NCAA issues when nearly everything with the NCAA is outrageous.Should he be allowed to play, probably not. Did TT and Sorsby make it happen, sure did. Does he have an addiction, don't know and certainly depends on what page of this thread you read.

There are NBA players coming back to college, so a player that may or may not have an addiction issue getting to play isn't going to cause me headaches if he plays. Even if he gamed the system, as ****** as it would be for those who have real issues, I have seen it happen in more important settings than this.

You brought up morals. I provided an example of times the board is not a moral high ground. Is it moral to cast the numerous, karma, or I am not going to say I want him to get hurt comments?

He gambled. He got punished. He fought it. He currently won. Some are outraged. Some aren't.

That is fair. Gambling has been a cardinal sin of sports. I also feel Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame. There are also other offenses that risk the integrity of the game. It is a circus, we'll see how it plays out.

No, you extrapolated it to every poster and are running with it. Some of the overall outrage is fair and reasonable, some is fake. If you are outraged, great, that is fair. If some are not, that is fine, too.

They clearly do and they're telling them to set the narrative by getting out in front of the public. The problem is it's not working and has the opposite affect. The best thing to do would be to fight this in complete silence and hope other stories take over and distract.

If the PR firm they had was worth anything they'd realize that what Sorsby did is universally understood to be bad, he admitted to it, and there's no convincing anyone that it's not bad, there's no gray space to fight over. So in that case you need to get it out of the news cycle.

The longer this stays in the cycle the more people are going to start to say, "why isn't anyone doing anything about this!", and will force someone's hand.

You are engaging in magical thinking if you think Sorsby will go undrafted because of this. He plays quarterback. His biggest punishment will be he is going to be hated by tens of millions of strangers for the rest of his life.

Sorry, in any other sane sport - NBA, NFL, MLB - if you're found betting on your own team, you're banned for life. Calvin Ridley didn't even bet on his own team, and yet the NFL suspended him for a whole season, which should be the minimum when such things happen.

I hate the NCAA, but they were right here - there is zero reason to not see the judge's decision as an injustice against common sense and the integrity of the sport.
