Sorsby is requesting an injunction because NCAA rules say that he can’t play. In layman’s terms, he’s asking the court to make an exception because he went to rehab and he’s oh so sorry, and he wants them to overrule the NCAA.

The NCAA is saying that the rules are clear, Sorsby broke them, so therefore he shouldn’t play.

It’s dumb and he just looks like an *******.

Usually you want to win whatever you bet on. You think this kid was beating on IU (who was trash at the time) to beat Ohio State or Michigan? Lol

I also don’t think they can prove irreparable harm considering that Sorsby can play in the NFL, UFL or CFL. Whether those leagues want him is a different story, but the harm is not irreparable because there are other playing options.
 
Why would an NFL owner draft this guy right now? I think he has to prove that he is not gambling for at least a year. Even then....

At least. And Sorsby knows it so he’s trying to stay in college for another year to rehabilitate his image.

Aren't the NFL going to take the exact same stance as the NCAA?

You can't gamble on your own sport as a professional athlete. He's tainted goods.

I’d be shocked if the NFL accepted him. But for the sake of the TRO, he will have a hard time proving irreparable harm when other leagues exist for him to ply his trade. Whether the other leagues want him should be irrelevant to the legal issue.

Indeed, Sorsby’s attorneys are in a jam. If they argue to the court that the NFL is not a viable employment option, they have to admit it is because of the gambling, while still asking a judge to let him play despite that same issue being why they are in court in the first place.
On the other hand if they stay away from the NFL issue, the NCAA attorneys (not a fan at all of the people they employ as legal counsel), should be able to use that as another basis to deny the TRO.

His attorneys are something else. This is like getting busted for roids, but the defense is the player was addicted to the substance. So therefore it’s ok.
