BREAKING - Norvell heavy favorite for FSU, Announcement could come on Sunday

Can we all at least agree that this is a forced hire due to recruiting?

Norvell has made it a better program. Since we're referencing VT I actually see Norvell as a Beamer-type coach if hired at FSU (record wise from 2004-2011). A guy who after winning 8-games his first year will win 10 (every now and then 11) games a year (including bowl), but never be a top 5 threat. Consistent top 15 every year at best. Good coach, not a corch, but never someone uber elite. Maybe he strikes gold one year with a Cam Newton or Jameis Winston and makes the playoff.
 
It's a solid double for FSU but this hire is going to take a few years to show dividends. Fuente built Memphis into the AAC power they are now but he hasn't exactly set the world on fire at VT. Recruiting will be an uphill task for him as well since he doesnt have much experience doing it at the P5 level. Interested to see how he builds his staff.

I think we'd be thrilled with a hire like this given our situation on offense, but FSU just had one of the more innovative minds in CFB with Briles and didn't move the needle much. Add to it that Akers is going to the NFL and they are going to be devoid of offense talent for some time. Memphis was 48th in total D (basically average) so it's not like he's setting the world on fire there either unless he can hire a big name at DC.
 
Solid yet somewhat underwhelming hire. He’s known for putting together good staff’s & will be an upgrade to Taggart.. but with FSU’s depleted roster, it’s going to be a tough job. Interested to see how he recruits.

Eh... I think given the names that were floated before to this, it has to be considered a disappointing hire for FSU fans.

FSU has similar problems as us on the oline..that FSU situation should be proof to show were we need to fix our issues at because like u said Briles is a innovative mind offensively. As for Norvell to FSU, Any non P5 coach who comes to the southeast ACC, SEC and frankly national recruiting grounds is in for a rude awakening when it comes to getting talent. I’ll say this, FSU will always have a listening ear from recruits but Norvell seems to have no ties in south Florida. Only one player on that roster is from south Florida..
